rightly.

]hi guys,
missed y'all
oh buggery buggery shit. i can';t belive bff were on richard and judy - i
mean how the hell did that happen. they're usually having phone-ins about
acne. aaaaargh! some one shoot me now! did anyone see it?? what did they
say?
i DID see totp though - and yeah to whoever wasa asking ben did seem like he
wanted to play something else - did you notice how he was trying not to
laugh? that was funny...:) to everyone in the uk -(and anywhere else you can
get it) - buy this week's melody maker - it's a pretty cool article but they
o seem a bit down about what they're doing at the mo. - it's like they don't
think brick will be a hit, but sftd *might* do better and they were going on
about how their videos were bullshit and promo photos were crap....... quite
dpressing really, but darren also talked about putting a rubix cube up his
arse which cheered me up!
there was a totp interview too - with jane "annoying cow" middlemess who
kept calling them "the ben folds five" - does that bug anyone else here?? i
can't sdtand it...
anyway there was the usual what does the song mean thing and they told the
truth eventually, then they described their pre-performance
ritual....involving butter and leaning against radiators......dodgy :)
sorry for the slightly long message but i've been away for three weeks and i
was suffering from withdrawal symptons.....

Subject: The Buggles, five bands and a question

The buggles wrote Video Killed The Radio Star. It was (coincidentally)
the first video ever played on MTV. It also has a special place in one
of my Favorite movies "Empire Records." As for the five bands
1. Dave Matthews band (Carter's drumming is unparallelled)
2. Squirrel Nut Zippers
3. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
4. Better Than Ezra
5. Louis Armstrong

Now I was just curious. I don't know if this is still relevant or not
but I want to know if Ben gets sick of playing Brick so much. I have
seen him play it a few times on Television and he always seems so sad.
It might be that the song is just so sad or that the guy has so much
energy pent up that he needs to get it out. I have heard that his
concerts are pretty wild. I would think that having to play brick and
only brick on all the talk shows would kill him. What are your
thoughts? I suppose though that only Ben can answer this question.

Also I have never seen BFF in concert yet but I will get my chance on
the 23rd of May. I am going to the Tinley Park show. I can't wait. It
should be a stomping good time.

Greetings and salutations....

I'm afraid I am going to have to leave the Armchair. "What?", you say. "Yes." I reply, "It's true."
I don't really like the direction the list has taken. It's not that I mind off topic posts, or new fans asking
questions, but lately there seems to be an abundance of posts like this one:

Innane, with no point, mindless drivel....

No offense intended to the person that wrote this, anyone who appreciates BFF is all right by me.
However, it is not worth my time and effort to sort through
3/4 digests full of these kind of posts a day. So, I say to you , "Fare thee well."

I miss intelligent discussions....

It's the same song, which was originally written and recorded by a group
called the Buggles.

I didn't have any problem with it. Have you tried Phix.exe? I didn't have
to use it when I downloaded it, but maybe that's the problem you're having.

They Might Be Giants are fantastic live...personally, I think Moxy Fruvous
and Barenaked Ladies do much better live performances than TMBG, though...
Go ahead and laugh, but I haven't seen BFF live yet. :P

Favorite bands:

Barenaked Ladies, BFF (of course), the Brothers Creeggan, Devo, Joe and the
Chickenheads, Jump Little Children, Lincoln, Mono Puff, Moxy Fruvous, the
Presidents of the USA, the Residents, Starry Eyes, They Might Be Giants,
Those Darn Accordions, Tuscadero, Velocity Girl, XTC, and Weird Al
Yankovic. I can't choose just 5. :)

Subject: the sting thing, with added BFF content about the Austin show.

This remark << Sting (ok, strictly speaking, Andy Summers >> is saying,
that the SONG that Puff Daddy, um... destroyed, was YES, a song written by
Sting (AKA Gordon Sumner.) But a few of you young pups may have heard your
parents talk about this band called the Police... from England. Sting wrote
that song while with the Police. The guitar player for that band was a one,
ANDY SUMMERS. (A very talented musician as well.) If you listen to the Puff
Daddy song, you'll notice that the only part of the song that remains
intact, and the only part sampled from the original is Andy playing that oh
so famous guitar lick. I think that THIS is more or less the reference that
our British pal was trying to make. And that's all I have to say about
that.

NOW FOR THE WONDERFUL BFF CONTENT ---

Does anyone know how much tickets are for the upcoming show in Austin, TX?
Or are there any still available? Austin Music Hall is a great place for
concerts. I saw Asleep at the Wheel there during Spring Break. Lots of fun.

someone wrote that they heard "fear of pop" was going to be techno. it's
not. it's a lot of tape loops, and crazy music, but it's not techno.
speaking of techno, though, ben showed me this cd called "megahits
vol.2" and go figure, there's a techno version of brick!! by something
known as 3 a.m. it's been a few weeks, so i'm pretty sure, but not
positive of the names of the cd and or band/person covering the song.
but it's a compilation cd. to hear brick in techno was pretty scary!
anyway, he's still working out the kinks on "fear of pop" and they're
about to go back out on tour, so i doubt it will be out anytime soon.
take care

someone heard an interview w/ben about the song they do on the godzilla

usually makes people laugh...he's a funny guy, it wasn't meant to be
taken seriously. if only you people could hear the interviews i've done
