in the message body. Please DO NOT POST UNSUBSCRIBE REQUESTS TO THE LIST
ITSELF! If you are having trouble, send mail to
owner-armchair@maillist.il.fontys.nl
and I will try to help you. To change your address, first unsub yourself from
your old address, then subscribe using your new account.
SCHOOL'S OUT FOR {SUMMER | EVER}!!
If the above statement applies to you, be sure to unsubscribe from
the Armchair if you will not have access to your e-mail account over the
summer. Otherwise, your mailbox will fill up and the system administrator
at your school will be one angry dwarf...
Accordingly, very soon I will begin purging the mailing list of any
address that bounces for any reason (e.g., too many hops, mailbox full,
no route to host), not just 'user unknown'. If you find yourself
unsubscribed, this is probably the reason.
THANKS A THOUSAND
With the passage of 1,000 issues of the Armchair I'd like to thank
everyone for their contributions to the success of the list. We have a great
group of fans and the band is very appreciative of your support.

1. Someone wrote:
"Each digest contains some 20K of setlists, concert reviews, opinions,
arguments, spams, flames, accidental unsubscribe posts, meaningless drivel,
meaningful drivel, interpretations, hopes, dreams, whatever."
Yeah, and a two-page posts about "Why I decide to leave the digest."
Go ahead and tell us all why, I'll read it, but don't be hypocritical.
2. Anyway, I am still going to say how I thought BFF was at the Y100 FEZtival
yesterday. I'm sure someone else who went will post the setlist, so I won't.
All these people were waving lighters during brick, they kind of annoyed me,
but I didn't let it stop me from having fun or anything. Also, I was sitting
by myself in the actual seats (as opposed to lawn seats) cause the people with
me wanted to stay on the lawn, but i wanted to go in so i could actually see
them. Anyway, these two girls stood right in front of me and were dancing to
every song. I couldn't care less if they danced, but why did they have to
shove their butts right in front of my face! Also they were singing over-
exaggeratedly to all the songs. The only thing keeping me from saying
something to them was the fact that they did know the words to the ones from
self-titled. So I moved. I thought their performance (BFF, not the girls)
was very energetic, and I thought they did great...Very tight set.
3. Also, i was able to meet and get autographs from carl and brett from fuel,
and nic, alex, grey, and mark from Athenaeum, and paul from black lab...I
wouldn't have except for the fact that I planted myself front and center at
the side stage for three hours starting with fathead (who were really good).
I'm all bruised because people kept pushing me, and a crowd surfer fell on my
head. If any of you are that girl who was helping me call Brett and Carl
over, tell me!
4. Also, Casey, we wound up not doing the show me your y100 thing because we
didn't have time...so if you saw people in y100 sunglasses, it wasn't us.

Subject: y100 FEZtival...wow
well, it' seems that i have just woken up from a really awesome dream, when i
get the pictures back, it will seem like reality
as some of you know, i work for Y100, so yesterdays FEZtival at the E Centre
in Camden was like the beginning of a summer of great fun and shows....it was
my job to organize and run all of the meet and greets with all of the bands
backstage...needless to say i was PSYCHED when i saw that BF5 were doing one,
cause i know i'd be able to spend like 30 minutes at least with the boys...so
anyway....lets start at the beginning
i was back in the green room all day long, and i walkie talkied the head
promotions gal at Y to get her to get someone to cover me in that room for
just one set, Ben Folds, so i could see the show....she did, and i went out to
see it....i was able to watch from the actuall stage (for those of you at the
show, i was one of two girls on Ben's side of the stage, right back in the
corner dancing around and singing the words to every song)....it was so neat
to see it from back there, looking out at the 25000 people there, and seeing
1) NO MOSHING and 2 ) NO CROWD SURFING and 3) a big core groud of fans right
up in the pit mouthing along every word to every song.
here's the set list that ben gave me, though they altered it a bit
Pyser (and that's how it's spelled on the list)
Battle
Selfless
Philsophy (with lots of stool banging into the piano)
Polka(which they ended up NOT playing....which sucks, cause it's one of my
favorites)
Alice (again, didn't play this one)
Steven (complete with singing the last verse from atop the piano)
Fair (i went nuts during this one)
Brick (i was hoping for evaporated, but hey, i like this one too)
Kate (which they didn;t have time for....and this is the first show that i saw
that they
didn't play this one)
Julianne (again, not played)
Eddie Walker (NOt PLayed)
Dwarf (what energy!!!)
Underground (no "never cool in school" intro, in interest of time i believe)
Dumped (woo hoo)
anyway, that was the list
then right after their set i went back to the green room to set up their meet
and greet thingy....they came back, and i introduced myself, told them how i
was at the Palace show on the 8th of Feb (one of the 4 that stayed out at the
tour bus in the lot till they came out of the show) and also at the KROQ
breakfast thing.....they were so nice, i had a decent length conversation with
Robert about the schedule for the rest of the summer (today the play boston in
the afternoon, then fly to NY to play again tonite!!) they are gonna finish
out this leg of the tour that they are doing now, then take some time off
(sheesh they have been touring for a heck of a long time) and go into the
studio summer to work on the new album!
other highlites of the day (as if that wasn't enough for me already) the
station let me do the Green Day interview and the kid that GD pulled on stage
to play guitar during Knowledge was one of my really good friends (who i gave
tickets to the show for the nite before)
anyway, sorry for the length, if anyone else was at the show, tell me what you
thought!!!
bye bye for now

I taped this show myself and have been sitting on it (not literally) for the past 3 weeks.
I'd like to trade for other high quality, low generation audio or video shows. My BFF video list consists of 17 TV appearances/performances/interviews (all masters) plus 6 promos.
Your lists are welcome.

Subject: Y100 FEZtival Kicked!!! (long)
First off, major major thanks to Maria, who happened to have 2 extra tickets
to this festival....i know she's on the armchair, so i wanted to publicly
thank her...25,000 tickets were sold, only 7,000 of them were seats and under
cover...she somehow managed to end up with the covered seats, leaving me quite
dry and comfortable compared to the 18,000 people on the lawn in the pouring
rain...
Anyways, i got there a little late and missed Fastball and Marcy Playground,
and i thought Wyclef jean, but it turns out that Wyclef didnt make it due to
traffic...so i got there for half of Everclear who sounded terrible, but i
think it was the audio guys fault, not the bands...anyway, for anyone who
cares they did a weak rendition of Everything to Everyone, but a good
rendition of their first single, whose name escapes me right now...the one
about swimming out past the breakers and watching the world die...
After Everclear was the Mighty Mighty Bosstones who played a pretty good
set....every band got to play for around an hour, which was just the right
amount of time for these bands in the heat (90 degrees)...anyway, the
bosstones sounded good, and got to play pretty much all of their latest
singles....i felt bad for their guy who's only job is to dance..in that suit
in the heat..go figure...
After MMB they set up BFF's stuff....it took forever (it seemed) to set their
gear up...there must've been 20 guys standing around Ben's piano, just staring
at it, as if to say "That is the weirdest looking guitar ive ever seen"...but
as it turns out, Maria told me that Ben's piano stand had broken the night
before, so they were probably just securing it extra tight.......so i got all
excited to hear ben, but no, they had to bring out Jeffrey Gaines, who as
some of you know, is just him and his acoustic guitar...i have nothing against
him, but was so ready to see bff, i couldnt wait for him to get off the
stage...luckily, he didnt even play for 20 mins....which brings us to the 5...
They were cheered loudly, but didnt seem to have many true fans
there....although their 'kiss my ass' t-shirt was by far the most popular,
leading me to believe that there were more fans than there actually were...
They opened with Pyser, then into Battle....from there they played, not in
order:
Fair
Brick
Selfless, Cold, and Composed
Philosophy
SLNIT (surprisingly, since it is kind of weak live)
then closed with, in order:
OAD
Underground (w/out 'cool in school')
SFTD
pretty strong set for only getting to play for an hour.....even though the
crowd was weak, they did get a standing ovation by 3/4 of the crowd when they
finished....SFTD really seemed to impress everyone....as usual Brick was their
most popular song....it was actually really cool because bff was the first
band to play in the night and dark, so they put a spotlight just on ben, and
as i looked around there mustve been 1000 lighters being held up...but overall
not a great crowd...the pit was motionless, and there wasnt even a black t
shirt thrown on stage during SFTD...but i had a great time during their
set...and thought they sounded really good....
after bff was green day...im not a fan, but damn, green day was
amazing....they sounded excellent....it was obvious that the 25,000 people
were there to see them...by the end of their set their instruments had been
smashed, thrown in a pile, and lit on fire....i hate to say it, but they blew
everyone away, even our bff....anyway, as the fire was slowly burning out,
billy joe walked out and played 'time of your life'....and as the song ended
with him saying, 'its something unpredictable, but in the end is right, i hope
you had the time of your life', it seemed to justify everything they
did....even his standing of the stage only in a thong underwear and bra over
his t-shirt..hell, they even broke into 'beautiful people', and 'eye of the
tiger'...they were just amazing....and as they said 'i hope you had the time
of your life', i realized that i really did...and that the festival was the
best show id ever been to....so i left on that high note....having had the
time of my life..
the only people i felt bad for was the cherry poppin daddies, who had to play
after green day....and after the fire had been put out and the stage
cleaned....it was impossible to follow green day it seemed....but i had
already left....
sorry for the length, but i just had an amazing time, and thank you maria, and
i hope you all will not attack me for praising another band more than
bff....especially because it was green day....
still floating,
aaron

Majority? try mostly none. The *people* being obnoxious are not, I
repeat, ARE NOT Ben Folds Five fans.

Oh that's it exactly!!! That was the comment we have been waiting for. Thanks
for saying that. The people that go to BFF concerts and are obnoxious are NOT
fans because they would know how to behave and be considerate of the other
Fivers there. Thanks!
Ok, of course CHANGE IS INEVITABLE AND UNENDING. So if Armchairites want to
leave, it's only natural. HELP THE WORLD GO TO HELL AND SIGN OFF FOREVER!
