ITSELF! If you are having trouble, send mail to

and I will try to help you. To change your address, first unsub yourself from
your old address, then subscribe using your new account.

SCHOOL'S OUT FOR {SUMMER | EVER}!!
If the above statement applies to you, be sure to unsubscribe from
the Armchair if you will not have access to your e-mail account over the
summer. Otherwise, your mailbox will fill up and the system administrator
at your school will be one angry dwarf...
Accordingly, very soon I will begin purging the mailing list of any
address that bounces for any reason (e.g., too many hops, mailbox full,
no route to host), not just 'user unknown'. If you find yourself
unsubscribed, this is probably the reason.

THANKS A THOUSAND
With the passage of 1,000 issues of the Armchair I'd like to thank
everyone for their contributions to the success of the list. We have a great
group of fans and the band is very appreciative of your support.

Does anyone have any further info on the Australian tour, ie when
tickets go on sale? I have looked up ticketek online, and called up the
Enmore centre, but they know nothing.... even the citysearch and
sidewalk pages don't have any info...

Any ideas?

I can hardly contain myself....
BFF are coming back to Australia.... about time!!

I noticed that a few people have posted about this but neglected to
realize that Perth is actually also part of Australia. When I read the
posts I was bitterly dissapointed - then I went to their web-site and
lo and behold - they are coming to Perth on the 21st July.
This date just so happens to be the day after I return from Japan - as a
result I am most pleased...

Anyway - enough rambling about my fairly good fourtunes.
Back to the exam preparation...

Waiting for July....

Subject: Jeff Buckley and overheard KISS concert

My take on the KISS concert which there was no way in hell of me going
to? (Not for any particular reason, there just was) It was their *&^%$
radio show! This is a station that will play Mariah Carey, then Jewel,
then Jimmy Ray, or whatever generic flavor of the month! KISS is a
station that spawns Brickheads in the worst possible sense. I wish they
were playing the WBCN show instead...with Green Day and a lot of "alterna
rock" boy bands...There was an article on it in the Boston Globe...they
said "disappointing were lounge rockers Ben Folds Five" I dont know.. I
wish they were at ANY Boston radio show, just not the KISS one...
my buddy the Mariah Carey fan said they were really good and the crowd
loved them, but then again, she said they woke up when they played Brick.
Shes also really democratic and nice.
You can email me personally on this- what do people think of the
new Jeff Buckley album? Its been getting awesome reviews, but Im
dissapointed. And i feel bad cos I am... I also feel like the "death
specter" thing is making him media hypey. =(

i saw the kiss festival pay-per-view deal at my friends house....bff played
brick, OAD and SFTD...which not only had ben w/the string scratching, but
sledge with tapping the input of his bass to his hand....which i remember him
doing at hammerstein back in feb....anyway, it was nothing great....the other
bands were rather lifeless...they had the b52s and sister hazel and other
stuff like that...nobody worth paying for....not even bff for 3 songs...i got
to his house during brick, so its possible they played a song before it, but i
doubt it...

dont bother

Hi!
Just got home from the Big Shindig show in Raleigh...I'll save the reviews
for others, but I had a great time! If anyone was able to get the show taped and
the tape was not confiscated, email me...I have plenty of stuff for trade.
Talked to the guys a bit after the show...my first meeting. They were pretty
cool...I asked Darren how the concert grind was going, he said, "Pretty good...I
just had sex with a strange woman in the stairwell." I responded laughing that
maybe that was too much information, and Robert (sitting next to him) said that
too much information was a good thing most of the time. He then made some crack
about the Internet, I think he was criticizing it, but I can't be sure.
Also, I don't know all the details about this, but apparently broadcast.com
is not planning to archive the BFF online gig that was on there a couple weeks
back. I'm sure they have it, they're just not planning on putting it up. I think
this calls for an email campaign, what do y'all think? : )
Take care,
Jay

Subject: HORDE...K-Rock sucks...SFTD video on 120 Minutes

Greetings Armchair (and apologies for the length)!

As far as I know, they're not on HORDE-this from checking the BFF site, the
HORDE site, and also realizing that they are on tour in Europe in July.
However...HORDE seems to be really revolving this year-for instance the
Pumpkins aren't playing the Darien show but are playing the SPAC show. I'm
reminded of last year's Lollapalooza fiasco where Dr. Octagon got added at the
last minute after somebody quit...but last year's Lollapalooza sucked so let
us never speak of it again.
HORDE was very good, though, even though I had to race through a crowd around
some police who were getting medieval on this guy who got caught with "illegal
substances" to get front row for BFF's 30-minute set. Ah, memories...

Also...As I was driving home from my aunt's graduation through a tornado on
Interstate 81 near Sandy Creek NY, SFTD came on Syracuse K-Rock...except the
DJ called them "Bens Fold Five" (sic) and said it was originally on the "Mr.
Right" soundtrack. At least they played it. I can't believe that I've spent 12
hours listening to the car radio over the last two weekends and not heard
Harvey Danger's "Flagpole Sitta" once...or, for that matter, any BFF song
until tonight.

My friend Eric has a sneaking suspicion that BFF may play the K-Rock-a-thon
because K-Rock has heavily promoted "SFTD" these last three weeks. I have to
doubt him, but I'll post a band list if they are named tomorrow afternoon.
Considering that the K-Rock "minifest" features The String Cheese Incident,
Leftover Salmon (who really suck) and moe., expect two out of that three to
play the K-Rock-a-Thon. I personally predict that they'll get some of the
following:

Fastball
The 3 minifest bands
Days of the New, Creed, or a reasonable facsimile thereof

One can only hope.

Hey-anyone catch Matt Pinhead (excuse me) Pinfield NOT screw up the intro to
Song For The Dumped on 120 Minutes this morning? It was the first video
played. That little girl with the iron reminds me of my last girlfriend:)

With love,
Dan

Ben is playing a lick from of Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue "at the end of

Ok crew,

So you like Ben Folds Five? Sure, who here doesn't? But, you live in the
UK. Hmm. You can't get posters for love nor money. Well, maybe you can.
Push Posters, who advertise weekly in the NME have in their advert a poster
70cm x 50cm labelled Ben Folds Five - Brick. Yeah, I know it's Brick, yeah,
I know it's probably just going to be the cover of the single, but hey,
it's a poster right? Just thought you might like to know...... Oh yeah,

hey all

last night was my first BFF show which was at the G105 Big Shindig at
Walnut Creek Ampitheatre in Raleigh NC. It was great!! Got a setlist,
I'll type it out later. After the boys played I went and got my setlist
autographed (I'm sure they loved my Pochacco stationery). I let three
girls come down to my row to get a better view (well, it was only three
rows, but hey!). If anyone saw a guy with short dredlocs in either a white
t-shirt (then later a black t-shirt), then you saw me (believe me 'cause I
was like, one of the ten black people there). *grin*

My *SIGNED* Setlist (I also got to shake hands with all three of 'em):
The Theme from Dr Pyser (I think, I've never heard it before last nite)
Battle of Who Could Care Less
	Selfless, Cold and Composed
	Philosophy
	Eddie Walker
	Last Polka
Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head (announced as their next hit) hah!
	Steven's Last Night In Town
	Fair
	Brick
	Emaline
	Julianne
	One Angry Dwarf...
	Underground
	Song For the Dumped

Hello all, I just got back from the Big Shindig in Raleigh. It was a
pretty rockin' show overall, lots of great, mostly local bands. I got to
see Hobex, the Connells, 7 Mary 3, Athenaeum (to the guy who mentioned
meeting them in another digest, I went to junior high with Grey Brewster,
so imagine my surprise at learning he was in one of my favorite new
bands!), Collapsis, Marcy Playground, Dag, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, and Far
Too Jones. BFF was headlining this show, so they played late, after I'd
been in the sun all day, but I had been saving up my energy and managed to
groove away during their set. They played (in no real order): Pyser,
Battle, Polka, One Angry Dwarf, Steven's, Julianne, Underground, Eddie
Walker, SFTD, Philosophy, Brick, and "the big hit," Raindrops. It was a
pretty standard show, no real goofing around or anything, but their
incessant touring has ensured that they sound amazing no matter what
because they're so tight now. Ben did tell a funny story about guys in
caves that had nothing to do with anything, but used it as his intro to
Steven's. He did a pretty rockin, assault on the piano with the stool,
with a runnig start across the rather large stage. While the sound wasn't
quite as cozy as in an intimate setting, the guys amplified really well,
which kinda surprised me. Um, the crowd wasn't too bad..just your average
Top 40-ish radio crowd. I saw Jay R. and his friend, went with Kim and
her friend Jen, and met up with people I knew from school there, plus saw
Alessa, so there's the mailing list crowd. Briefly talked to the guys
afterwards, Ben was trying to remember the last place he saw me (Austin,
BTW), Robert was offended because I wasn't getting anything signed (I
managed to placate him, though, and Kim let him try on her nifty foam
visor she got), and then Ben told me what originally was the entire
purpose of this long, rambling post. Attention all Atlanta folks! We are
in some major freakin' luck, because Ben told me that Snuzz was going to
be opening for them in Atlanta. Aiee! Talk about a family affair, I'm so
excited now!

Ginger :)

ps--the Steinway was back, but it's on stands right now because they broke
the legs while moving it recently..ben didn't say when they're getting
legs again
