I'd love it if anyone receiving this list could send me the most up to
date information on the band from the States. I'm talking albums,
singles, stuff like that. I'm from Australia and I don't always get
the most current information. Thanks guys!

pissed if I hadnt got to meet them :P I took my brother with me to the
concert and now whenever I walk into his room he has bff blaring. He took
my CDs :/ Oh well :P

Just Listen to the Music. I see all of this Mud slinging and It's kind of
sad to have sit and read through it to get some of the good stuff. I noticed
that there is a Line drawn between the people who have been listening to BFF
for two years and those who have listened for less...Isn't that fucking
stupid? I mean I had never heard of BFF until "Battle" was played on K-Rock
in New York, and I flipped out, and Naturally I bought the record. then the
One Before It, and The One after it. I wasn't there in the beginning. I
could Lie and tell you all that my buddy Bill from DUKE University said
"you've got to listen to these guys they're Cool" and I instantainiously
fell in love , but I didn't . The thing that rocks is that this IS the
Beginning. We all have so many more albums and concerts to look foward to.
They are such a young Band and seem to just be scratching the surface. Just
wait...
I really do enjoy the list and this mail was not intended to tick anyone
off. Just to voice my opinion. Oh and to the So called "Brickheads" ..don't
feel you have to explain yourself to anyone. You are here for the same
reason as anyone; Ben Folds Five

...I got something to say
It's better to burn out
Than fade away
Hey y'all!
Some responses and whatnot:
Thanks for the welcome back! And no, I'm not being sarcastic. I really am
thanking those of you who welcomed me/us back! There were those of you who
did wonder how we came to make our way back to the ottoman empire, most
notably...
Aaron & Ray, et al: We were asked back by someone who remembered us from
the old days. The message lamented the fact that recent Armchairs were less
than scintillating and requested a mass return of the old cutting crew for
at least the month of June (longer if we were having fun). I must admit to
being the one to forward it to the former varsity chairleaders with whom I
still keep in touch. I further acknowledge that I was flattered that
someone actually remembered my posts from the past. I decided to return to
the MA and dip my toeses into the water. In no way was I attempting to
elicit adoration of the "lower people" -- I just like amusing others and
myself. So, without knowing (or bothering to ask) my reasons for returning
- -- you cast aspersions on me. Which I find to be churlish, but
understandable & truly par for the course on the MA. So no worries, mates.
Ray: Thanks for the message on tolerance! I see from your post that you
have been a member for only a few months... so I understand how you might
think that I am the antithesis of what you deem to be tolerant. But
consider this: my cries for tolerance (along with many others) echoed
through the plains of the OE. But they were ridiculed This spurred some of
us to leave while others fell into a semi-comatose, non-posting condition
not unlike that of the frozen Dr. Evil. So if we seem to be a bit
shellshocked, it is because we are. We expect to be jeered, we expect the
MAsses to get into a swivet about our return. If we insulted you personally
in any way, though, we do apologize deeply and profusely.
Aaron: Brickhead? Teenybopper? I don't want to call you anything of the
sort! The only pentagonal fans with whom I have a bone to pick are the ones
who create mosh pits in front of the stage at concerts. And since I do not
know anything about you (and do not pretend to know) -- you may not be one
of those legions of fanatics who have decided that the *only* way to
experience The Boys is through a pain-induced haze and who have further
decided that other fans near the barricades need to feel distress and
suffering as well. So unless you mosh, dear sir, I shall refrain from
calling you a thing.
Elisabeth: So nice to see a friendly face (or e-mail address in this
case)that I remember! Thank you for the sweet welcome!
Brad "Lighten up" 654: Ahhhhhhhhh... another e-mail address that is hard to
forget. Good to see that you have not changed a bit as well! It distresses
me that I've "screwed things up" for you and the rest of the Armchair. I'm
not sure how I accomplished that, but I'm sure that being a wanker has a
lot to do with it. Also, I can understand how you could take offense at
someone saying "fare thee well" and explaining to friends they've made on
the Armchair just why they are leaving. I mean, this personally doesn't
affect your happiness -- it only seems to increase your anger, so a cease
and desist order should go out at once. As to lightening up -- should we
take our cue from your own obvious lack of animosity? Just wondering...
Abby: I truly loved your post about meeting Ben and showing him your
drawings (checking for sarcasm... it's clean!). The joy you feel about the
boys is contagious! I think I am going to have to work on a drink
combination that I can christen the Bhagavad Gita -- I'll let you know the
combination when I perfect it! But for future reference, if you have access
to a web browser... the Great Oz himself (the Fabulous Frank Maynard) has
explanations of some of the more obscure lyrical references on his website.
So you may want to check that out. But in the meantime... a cold frosty
Bhagavad Gita (I'm thinking gin right off) will certainly hit the spot!
Clayton: So you like 'Bentent' and 'BeFeF', huh? Thank you! But actually...
It's not pronounced BeeFeeF... it's the short 'e' sound -- as a friend of
mine (Jessica) would say... "it's like a drunk 2 year old trying to to say
Beth". Why she drinks with toddlers is beyond me though.
Dave: Now, it makes me wonder just how insidiously evil the Armchair has
become when someone ends a perfectly reasonable, non-judgemental post
(wherein he asks for a bootleg and offers to pay for postage and send a
tape) with a postscript that says "I'm not out to offend anyone or
anything". Is the MA truly so selfish, hot & bothered that some poor guy
feels the need to apologize in advance? Serfdom has returned with a
vengeance! 'Elp, 'elp! I'm bein' oppressed, I'm bein' oppressed! Which
reminds me:
Ben: I loved the Monty Python connection... that rocks!
Katy: I thought about renting the Truth About Cats & Dogs for the same
reason... but ended up renting it for the scion of humor that is Janeane
Garafalo. So, no... you are not weird.
Bentent: Heading off to SPAC for the show... any other New Englanders
traipsing to NY for it? Just curious.
Sorry to go on & on & on & on! But as some of you know: Anne rambles.
(Ahhhhhhhhhhh... I can almost see those lightbulbs flickering on now!)
- -Anne
P.S. For those who are curious... this post was truly low in sarcasm...
it's only about 12% of your daily allowance.

Subject: cleveland show setlist
i haven't seen any posts about the cleveland show yet...but i bet
there'll be a lot tonight. i got the setlist from the show, so here's
what they were *supposed* to play:
pyser
battle
selfless
philosophy
polka
steven
fair
brick
dwarf
dumped
here's what they really played:
pyser
dwarf
battle
selfless
philosophy
steven
fair
dumped
i was really dissapointed they didn't play the last polka...and i don't
know why they played one angry dwarf at the beginning. they didn't seem
to have much energy, or maybe they did and i just didn't realize it. i
think the songs they chose to play kind of ruined it for me...they played
nothing from naked baby photos...and all the songs they played i've heard
a million times, so it was no big deal. did anyone else who went think
the songs they played were a bad choice? you could tell who the real
fans were 'cause they were glad brick wasn't played...but this kid in
front of me was like, "they should've at least played brick. and
underground. and jackson cannery...they should've played that." it
seemed like he was just trying to think of songs he knew so it would seem
like he was a big fan of ben folds five, but that was kind of annoying.
he gets credit for liking them, though. was anyone from the armchair in
the pit? 'cause i heard what seemed like big bff fans talking, but i
couldn't tell. i was on the left in the second row....the girl in front
of me got the top of ben's stool and the girl next to her got the bottom
(are you guys on the armchair??) but i was quick enough to get the
setlist. since when have they pulled apart his stool? that was kind of
a shock, but good for the fans.
oh yeah, and beck was great. after the disappointing bff set, beck made
it worth going. i feel really bad talking about bff like that 'cause i
love them so much...i was just left w/ an unfulfilled feeling after they
played.

It's so funny that people don't know humor when they see it! If you
really looked up "annebling", you need to relax! & good to see that some
people---Brad90210, for example-haven't lost their self-righteousness.
Don't let the bastards (namely, me) get you down, Brad. Keep the faith,
my brothah! I only think I'm better than you-I have no proof!
For actual Bentent, does anyone know if they're returning Stateside
after Europe? If the last couple tours are an example, I suspect they
will, but if anyone knows for sure, I'd appreciate whatever info you
have.

So here it is. June. 1 post down. Sweet.
First, before I get the *dreaded* look-over (scan), lemme inject some
Bentent into your most beautiful ears today. "Oh, what nice lobes you
have!"
That Springer episode airs in conjunction with the release of Darren's solo
percussion effort, "Bangin' On My Drums, Makin' Faces, and Callin' My
Girlfriend." Many guest artists (who are on the CD) make appearances
during the show. I consider a coup for the Springer show to land such a
line-up. The show airs June 31. Tape you VCRs TODAY gawdammit.
Now on to the fun...
What the hell is a wanker? Is that one of those, "you have to be one to
know one" deals? Brad seems to have a great understanding of the term,
so maybe he will enlighten us all as to what Webster seems to have omitted
from his latest edition. Is there a club and stuff? Man, maybe I want to be a
wanker too. Markus always gets privy to all the good stuff before the rest of
us. Damn that Markus. Damn him.
Boyer! Man...where have you been lurking? Your insight to music was a
staple of the MA in the day. Good to see you leading off the issue.
Rocketno8. yup. nothing good or bad stays that way forever. whatever that
means... but I am digressing....(damn that Anne. bad influence)...I don't
think any us *deserve* to feel superior. But, since you are feeling generous:
"I AM SUPERIOR!" (if only for a cyber-moment)
Time-out. I thought the MA still had a valet at the door. Who the hell will
check my ego for me? Shyte. This sucks. Here I am at a *kick-ass* party
and I have to walk around with my ego all day. Oh. Alright. I'll make the
*best* of it...sometimes I wish I just didn't "bring it."
Back to the fun...
On the meaning behind Air. I haven't heard it yet, but I can guarantee you it
has *something* to do with taking your pet to vet (in a jet? you bet. now
you're in debt. breaking into a sweat. someone throw me a hairnet! damn,
now I'm all wet).
Hey Polly Prissypants! You think you got excited seeing that BFF plate? HA!
Don't get in traffic behind "the-biggest-fanatical-fan-in-Illinois." (That's me
slow people). Got the jammin' -- B FOLDS 5 -- plate. Yessiree! You can
even view it at my most wonderful (and not very well updated) website:
http://members.tripod.com/~elyons/ben_menu.htm
This is the HOMEPAGE FOR THE DUMPED and has been on the web for
over a year I am proud to say. A collective "how nice" would be appropriate
now...I am even willing to bet you would pull an "Eric" (not to be confused
with the more mature "ERIK" (that's me again)) and have a JOYGASM!
Sweet. (you go Eric! Hail Eris!)
Hey Dave! You freakin' Helmet Head! Who da fuk R U??
Sweet.
Markus, quite being so superior and correcting everyone. You have an
attitude or something? Oh, that's right, you are one of those wankers.
Damn. Nevermind. You rule. Wankers RULE!
Ray, the reason the Univ. Of Mich guy (that's Eric!) backs me up is
because we are fellow COFers and Fjordians. And, for your information, we
have a strict code which we live by. Always support fellow Fjords! Fjords!
Fjords! Fjords! whoops...sorry...So, anyhow, that's for thinking my post was
fun to read. It takes like 8 hours to write shit like that. I mean, after the
drugs and alcohol kick in, the shit just **rolls** off my tongue, onto the desk
and then back on my tongue as I lick it back up. But, eventually, it all ends
up moving through my body, to my fingers, to the keyboard, like the
Kennedy bullet, and on to this nice maillist.
Did I read someone *smashing* some of Anne's post?? Oh man. The wrath
has been called....
All in all, I must put my hand to my mouth, smack a big kiss and throw it out
to all you who have welcomed us back! We love you too and love being in
place where we can be...be...well, we can BE.
Don't forget to tape those VCRs.
Yours truly (and I do mean *truly),
Deke.

Cheesy little college radio station? If you asked me, 88.5 WXPN is
the best radio station on the planet. Sure it lacks all the
commercials and the hype, but.. oh wait, that's what I like in a
station! Plus, they've been playing BFF and lots of other good
music for a long time now. I mean, just today, they played Alice
Childress. What kind of cheesy little college radio station would
get the boys in for a little private session anyway?
