OH MY GOD I'M A NEWBIE AND I JOINED BECAUSE OF BRICK!!! Just kidding -- I am
new to the MA, however, it's simply because I have had real bad luck with list
serves in the past. (You know, boring topics, critics, etc.) However, I'm not
a new BF5 fan, and so I thought I'd give the MA a shot.

Anyways....more importantly. I was recently at the 5/23 show in Tinley Park
IL. It was a big festival, and BF5 was there (the main reason why I went).
They were definitely a blast. I'd have to say that BF5 and Barnaked Ladies
definitely took the cake with their personable and entertaining acts. The BfF
set only last about a half an hour, but it was great -- I think that my friend
Mike and I were the only people in the lawn section that knew/was singing
along to "Philosophy." I had to snicker at the end when the entire crowd
roared when they played "Brick" and "Song For the Dumped," but the festival I
went to is notorious for one hit wonder fans anyways.

Overall, that was my first BF5 show (I go to school far away from Chicago, so
I've missed all of their other shows), but I was really really impressed by
their set. Even my friends who aren't fans were rockin by the end.

Sorry so long, but it's my first post, what can I say?

Where are the Elliott Smith reviews!!!! Educate the masses!!!!

Preach, Preach, Preach!!!!

If anyone ends up digging on Elliott Smith, check out Bay too. Bay is
duo from England that has two albums out. The best being a double disc
entitled Alison Rae. The first disc is electric, the second acoustic.
Elliott Smith meets My Bloody Valentine. Absolutely brilliant.

So don't forget!

Keep those reviews coming!!!

Hello folks. I just thought some of you might be interested to know that
I am working on a complete discography for Ben Folds Five. It's not
going to be very slick with images of the CD's like some of the
incomplete ones you've seen on the net before. I would appreciate your
help in adding any releases you have that are not listed so far. Also,
there is some information missing from some of the entries I already
have listed (as I do not own everything on the discography), any help
with those would be appreciated.

The address for the discography is
http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Cabaret/2265/

Thanks...

was it just me, or did anyone else notice that someone who was running
the mtv movie awards really liked bff? they played 1ada200sf during the
best breakthrough performance for my best friends wedding. and when they
gave the lifetime achievment award to clint, they played underground.
i was happy that bff is getting exposure for something other than brick.

Hello friends...

The BFF Audio Archive is back up. You won't find all of the files, but most
of them are there. I have included a couple of songs from the demo tapes....
one of them most of you have not heard.

First, let me say that hestia614 and megan, you got it soo right. Thank
you for saying it better than I ever could. I love the MA, it gives me
nifty BFF info. I love the RF, we discuss BFF too, but on a more personal
level because, well, we want to know too much about each other, I guess.
I wouldn't give up either one. Oh, and I'm glad someone didn't like my
phony Springer setup...Ben the gay crackhead was an MA thing, and the gay
disco is the setting the guys have said they met in in interviews. I was
bored, I'm a creative writing minor, sue me! I'd like to see what else
other people can make up.

Anyway, on to BFF-related stuff. Anyone want to trade? I can send you a
list of my shows, I'm feeling generous and will even work with new
traders. let me know! Also, does anyone know a good time to catch the
SFTD video? I've been trying to catch it again so I can tape it for a
friend, but hell if I can understand MTV's scheduling anymore.

Thanks kids, don't give up yet,
Ginger :)

Whatta guy, that's the phrase for this weekend. The only sad thing is,
I'm talking about Beck. I'm sorry people, but I was VERY dissapointed
with the band. They only played 8 songs, I know that they were obviously
pressed for time, but hey, at least play ungerground for gods sake! They
started with Fair, decent tune, wasn't too surprised. Then came BOWCCL,
great tune, I was hoping to hear this. Too bad out of the 3 songs I
wanted to hear, this was the only one they played. Anyway, then came
Philosophy, that I actually liked, wow, I was pretty impressed. Then the
next 4 I don't remember the order, but the played, Emaline, Brick,
Selfless Cold and Composed, and 1 Angry Dwarf. Ben did have the best
quote of the night though (except maybe Beck's homogonized milk
rant)when he introed 1AD "This song is about getting your ass kicked in
high school." Then last was SFTD. Bench slamming and all. But anyway, I
had a great time, met some other armchair peeps (hi hi), wasn't really
expecting that. Sorry we didn't see you guys again. But all in all,
good show, Beck totally amazed me, but the guys just didn't impress me,
but it's them, so it was still great.

That's my little review type thing,
Dustin
