Rockford Files was this old TV show where James Gardner <?> played a

Subject: many things of BFF
Hey all,
i'm pretty new to the chair, but it's cool to see all
these BFF fans. While i'm on the subject i have to
agree fully with SUPERDAVE. People ask me how long
i've been a fan, or how to play the songs, what's my
fav song? I could answer all that, but why? does it
really matter, the thing that matters is i'm a fan
for whatever reasons, i can relate to the songs in my
own way. There are things that get on my nerves,
like people you consider themselves fans if they've
heard one song, such as Brick, Air, etc. But for me,
i'm glad people are catching onto BFF and they're
getting the recognition they deserve for being a
great band...as a musician and music major i come
across alot of bands, fans, and everything. Each
band that i enjoy, i enjoy for a certain reason. But
BFF goes high above this, i feel i have more in
common with this band than other bands. The style,
the songs, and really a overall package. Don't know
why it's just a feeling..weird eh? Well now that i
have that off my chest, anyone going to the Atlanta
concert, i'll be there probably in the front. i"ll be
there very early mainly due to transportation, but
because i want to be up front. If you are give me a
mail and i'll check ya there.
whatever & ever,

last night i was fliping channels and I stoped for a second on a show
called "battle of the generations" or something like that...
anyway--they had a team of folks that graduated in '81 and another team
that graduated in '91... and the category was musicians. they would
show the names of 2 famous musicians (one from the 80's and one from the
90's) and the teams had to guess what instrument they were famous for
playing. I thought I misheard the host when he said "Billy Joel and Ben
Folds"!!! I was happy... (by the way--I think the class of '91 got that
one...)

anything about how the venue or the show runs? Like will we get a chance
to meet them do you think?
Whatever, it'll be small & intimate. I am beyond excited.

A bunch of people posted about hearing Underground and One Anngry Dwarf... on
the MTV Movie Awards. I was wondering, did anyone other than me hear the
musical intelude in Song for the Dumped? I believe it was towards the end of
the show, maybe during the credits. I'm almost positive I heard it.
And on a non-BFF related note, was anyone else disapointed that Titanic and
Leonardo DiCaprio won? I didn't even like Titanic and I thought Matt Damon
was way better than Leo. Not that my boys John Travolta and Nicholas Cage
were too shabby either. Just curious...Oh and please don't conjest the
armchair with post flaming me for not liking Titanic. <LC54992@aol.com>

Ok, so I heard a totally unfounded rumor that BFF is opening for DMB (I LOVE
all these initials!) in Indiana, August 9th. Does anyone know anything about
this. Or, if not, who is opening? I really would love to see BFF again
(though an amphitheater setting is not ideal) so my hopes will be smashed if
they're not. ;)

Generally I do not have anything to say on the MA - I merely read it for its
articles. ("No, really mom, that's the only reason why I have them.")
However, lately there have been no articles...only incoherent babble.
Now...instead of pointing fingers at any specific group of people...which
would only cause more MA lists to be filled with "crap"...I'm just making a
general statement. There is hardly any real information on BFF. "Let's try
to stay focused people." This (list) is about the music...not personal
affairs - such as when people's "Feelings get hurt." (Example: "I hate you
because you're not a real fan!" "Fuck you!" "Your mom!") And so on and so
forth. Let's just try to keep the MA on topic...and if you want to start a
fight...do it on your own time in your own E-mail. Don't waste precious
space.
Keep it real

e-mail me DIRECTLY, people don't need to see5 million posts explaining

You said they had a bunch of local bands, right? Well, did you see Athenaeum
there? They're from Greensboro, NC...
BFFC: Sunday
Well, you know how I couldn't go see them at the stadium sunday night? I
asked my friend how it was...She said DMB rocked, BFF was ok, and Beck
sucked..I've learned, however, not to trust her opinion..She said "BFF did the
same stuff on stage as he did at the feztival, and it was boring." Then she
went on to say "Third Eye Blind does the same stuff on stage everytime too,
but theirs is better." Although I am also a fan of 3eb [shut up right now!
:) JK], I was debating this with her for a while. She doesn't think Ben
breaking piano stools and such is entertaining, but she thinks stephan jenkins
sticking his hand in the air is absolutely enthralling. I DON'T GET IT! and
i know beck couldn't have sucked, it's just that she's not a fan..Am I right
in saying that, *most of the time*, if you go see some1 with the opinion that
you don't like their music (which she did) you're not going to think they're
good live?

This DJ on 103.9/.5 out of Albany, NY was just commenting on how terrific Ben
Folds Five played last Saturday with Beck at SPAC (incidently, this same
station held a contest last week giving tix away to the show, and the grand
prize winner got to hang with Beck and BEN FOLDS FIVE, unfortunately, fate has
been cruel to me lately and I had to work so I couldn't enter) The DJ said,
"Ben Folds was a lot more destructive than I imagined." And then he went on to
explain the whole body slamming, string breaking, piano tossing
performance..even went so far as to start joking about how after the show he
jumped in the crowd and started pummelling people. He went for awhile about
how destructive Ben was, guess that took him by surprise. Anyhoo..sorry I
missed out and kudos to the boys for what was touted as a spectacular
performance by this DJ. Also, for people on AOL, other fans do it...why can't
we!! I know it's been suggested in the past, and every now and again a Ben
Folds Five room does pop up, but what if we made it like a weekly thing????
Email me at emmaline20@aol.com if you think it's a good idea..if not, well,
I"ll be hanging out in the Ben Folds Five room by myself as I normally do.
