As I am typing this, I am also uploading a bunch of sheet music to my
web page. Finally, I get around to updating the page...only problem is
it took up almost all of the space I was given for my site...Oh well.
Partial sheet music for the following songs: Missing the War, Uncle
Walter, Brick (of course), Eddie Walker, One Angry Dwarf, Underground,
Best Imitation of Myself, Cigarette, Battle of Who Could Care Less.
Hopefully I can put more up, once I find myself some more web space or
decide to reduce the quality. Anyways, the address is

See ya,

I just wanted to ask those of you esteemed Ben Folds Fans of yesteryear who attended the
recent Atlanta show: Was it the best concert of their's you've seen?
Also, who on the Armchair was there? I was the guy with Superdave that had on a Features
shirt. Oh well, anyhow, just my comments to other topics I've seen.....
If you feel bad about the fact that you found Ben Folds from Brick, you should be, but
only if you heard BFWCCL and didn't get hooked then. Or Underground for that matter. If
Brick was truthfully your first exposure, and you are able to regret that it pulled you
in, you should not be guilty.
The best Harmony is, hands down, Eddie Walker "Down Down Down"
Finally, any other BFF fans out there who like They Might Be Giants, Smashing Pumpkins,
Pavement, or Geggy Tah? These bands seem to be unpopular with the BFF crowd, but I love
em.

Subject: Beach Boys, car harmonies, and a quick note
A couple days ago, someone commented on the harmonies BFFuses and
how it seems similar to the harmony pyramid like that of the Beach
Boys... Kick ass observation.. That served as a quick reminder of last
semester's music theory class.. although I've thought of this before,
I still can't decide exactly why I thought of the harmonies of Beach Boys
(namely Barbara Ann) in comparison to Missing the War.. I guess it's the
Ba Ba Ba thing they both have going.. Anyone else with thoughts?
BFF harmonies in the car kick ass! Particularly when you have an
alto sporano and bass each taking a different part =) word to the wise,
you may not want to do this when there's a forth person in the car (the
driver) who isn't a bif fan of the band.. this WILL drive them up a wall
(maybe literally if you do it for too long)
Quick vent, 2 days ago, Del made a quick comment about what a
Fugees remix would sound like.. PLEASE, don't judge a band based on one
or two mainstream hits.. I know I may be the rare BFF fan who loves
hip-hop..being from Jersey City, NJ (if you've heard of it, you know
about it), it's a part of living.. They really are damned good, and
funny.... Check out "Gone Till November" "Anything Can Happen" or
"Fu-Gee-La" Ok.. that's enough out of me

Hey, Marcus, you out there?
I went to CD Warehouse yesterday and the guy looked at me like i was a

different, he was really quite an asshole, but that's beside the point.

worth a wild shot to see if any of you fine and wonderful people knew or had

If someone loves BFF, great. What does it matter which song introduced them?
<I mean, brick was a good song and all, but it was not a bff type
<of song.
They wrote the damn thing, I would think it is a BFF type of song. I mean I
would hope all their songs didn't sound exactly the same. This isn't Third Eye
Blind were talking about.
<Brick isn't what bff is all about. I
<mean look at all of their other songs. They all feature all three
<members singing, and robert doesn't use his stand up bass in any other
<song (i think).
Evaporated.
<It's just a sappy little girl song that bff made up
<so they could at least get some recognition.
A sappy little girl song so they could get recognition? Last time I checked,
it was a heartbreaking song Ben wrote about his girlfriend having an abortion.
I don't think he was sitting around thinking, "You know, if I really want to
get in good with all the little teeny bopper girls out there, I should write a
song about my girlfriend killing her baby." Sorry if that's too blunt, but if
you "truly love" BFF I think you could see that Ben puts a lot of personal
feelings into his songs, and I really doubt he wrote Brick with the intention
of getting it on the radio. Just my thoughts.

are you serious? you can't tell anyone they can't like the band because
they were introduced to it a certain way. If anyone, you can't truly be
in love with bff because of your closed-minded ignorance. Think about
what you're saying when you post, I'm sure there are many other's
replying to this crap whose words won't be as kind.

You guys, how long is this "Brick" thing gonna carry on? I'm beginning to
think some of you are, um, bitter. A fan is a fan is a fan. No matter why
they became a fan, they are a fan just the same. Please, stop dissing
everyone for liking Brick. I'm sure many of you liked it before it became
overplayed and if you didn't, then just let other people enjoy Brick and all
of Ben Folds Five's other great songs!

just because i became interested in bff after i heard brick, doesn't mean i
don't love them just as much as you....if the only song i ever heard was
brick, i probably wouldn't, but i bought WAEA and self titled and NBP and now
i'm starting to buy imports, just because i started listening to bff because
of brick doesn't mean i can't appreciate the rest of their songs too....i
agree that brick isn't their best song, they have far better songs than that
and i don't think that the way i became interested in the band should
determine how much other people think i like them, who's to say that
underground (the way some people became interested in bff) is their defining
song? i think they have better songs than that too, so unless you have known
ben since birth and have tracked his musical development for 31 years, don't
tell me how big a fan i am and don't think that you love this band any more
than i do

Hey hey everybody. I was wondering, how come I never hear anybody talk about
the song "Twin Falls" on NBP? Although it has no harmonizing, to me it's a
song that truely makes me go "Ahhhh."
I still think that a Puff Daddy remix of "Brick" would be more funny than a
Fugees one.

Fellow Chairers:
It's been a while since air piano has come up, but I just wanted to say
that yes, I do play air piano in my car when listening to BF5. It doesn't
matter whether or not I'm driving. In fact, I'm trying to teach myself how to
steer with my knee so I can do air piano on the dashboard and keep the car
moving at the same time. Won't THAT freak out other drivers.
"Hey, where did she get that car that steers itself when she pushes
invisible buttons on the dash? I want one of those!!!" I bet someone would
actually think that.
Also, yes I am guilty of harmonizing in the car to BF5 songs. My friend
Jonathan has been recently turned on to the band and knows all the words to
all the songs on WAEA. I let him sing and I pick up the high parts where I
can. Usually somewhere in the middle of all that one of us will see a VW
Beetle and start we'll start beating the crap out of each other, but it does
take up a lot of the car ride.
He's a really bad driver so I'm thankful for whatever we do to keep my mind
off the road.
I guess that's it. L8r!

Hi-
I've liked BFF since the week the first record came out, and I'm 27, so I'm
NOT a newbie and I'm NOT a teenage girl, but this is my first time on the
armchair, so please don't hurt me.
Questions)
1- I would absolutely kill for a copy or even an emailed version of that story
Kate wrote for Cake a while back. Anyone? anyone?
2-I've been hearing like three different versions of when they're going back
in the studio-is it October? Late summer? what?
Thanks,
Laura

Ok, ok, so I also am a closet brickhead. Probably the main cause of me
discovering the boys through brick is because the local stations play crap,
along with the fact I rarely listen to the radio, and my best friends are more
into Backstreet Boys (sad, but true!)
Anyways, I do have all 3 CDs, a brick import (w/ska Kate & Mitchell Lane), and
3 bootlegs (thanks to Mark for helping out a newbie!). I also have seen them
live once, so I figure I'm doin' pretty good.
My favorite songs include video, underground, scc, last polka, and evaporated.
I must say probably my least favorite songs are Kate and Julianne - they don't
seem as smooth as some other songs.
