Sorry this has the name of two other bands in it, but BNL's "One Week" video
was #10 tonight on total request. I believe that SFTD could get on if enough
people made a concerted effort. Too bad "the man" at MTV doesn't like the
SFTD video as much as others...it could get into heavy rotation.

I know Robert did some bass tracks on the Gladhands album "La Di Da,"
which hardly ever leaves my CD player now. But now that Jeff & Doug are
back in the studio, is he gonna come back? I know that Pat's back in the
band, so it seems like he would be on the album. Still, that was Doug's
fringe jacket that Robert was wearing on Conan, so my guess is that they
talking... anyone know the scoop?

i was at the rehearsal to the SNL that BFF was on...at the rehearsal, not only
did they play OAD, but they played it first....during the second musical act
they played Brick...so my question is, does anyone really know why they
couldnt play OAD on snl?
aaron
by the way - that OAD version was pretty funny because ben replaced "dont give
me that bullshit" with "dont give me that doo-doo." sing it to yourself, it
sounds ridiculous.

Subject: BF5 in Yahoo?
Today I was online and for once I didn't have anything constructive to
do. I noticed on Yahoo that Hanson was chatting live. I thought to
myself,"Let's raise hell" and that's what I did baby! I started saying
things like Ben Folds Five Kicks Ass! I got responses like ,"who is Ben
Folds?" I got so pissed off at these retarded 12 year olds. I
requested 25 times for Issac Hanson to just say I love Ben Folds Five
once, but he wouldn't do it. After being ignored by every person in
that room except for a really nice girl form Australia (go Aussies) that
was a BF5 fan, I left. She was going to get to meet them! Something
like Ben Folds 2nd cousin works with her friend or something like that.
<< hey, am I the only person on here that doesn't like BNL?>>
No I hate them

For once I don't have anything to say. How weird! Yes I do! If Doug
is out there somewhere, BF5 has got to come back to the Beale Street
Music Festival! I have gotten my two older brothers to watch the BF5 on
Conan performance and now they are big fans too. His favorite song is
Satan Is My Master. My oldest brother was rolling in the floor with
laughter. Does anybody know any up and coming BF5 TV Performances in
the US? Well that is about it.

it's already GONE. it's OVER. YOU posting about how you don't like posts
about other bands (i really don't care!) is WAY more intrusive than one
post, even if it was long, about another band (and of course i love the

Greetings,
This is going to make me sound like the complete ditz I am, but what/where
the hell is Brisbane?!?! I'm dying to know. Email me privately, wouldn't
want to take up space on the Armchair of people telling me what Brisbane is!
I'm so very happy! I finally saved up enough money for NBP. (Is that
abbreviation used?) (why is abbreviation such a long word?!) Yes, I think I'd
be called a "One Angry Dwarfhead". Hmmm.
Thanks ladies and gentlemen.
With deepest admiration,

Subject: ben folds on radio
for all I know this may have been over-done by now, but anyway, here's
my impression of ben's radio interview on jjj on tuesday, which I taped.
SORRY ABOUT THE LENGTH.
it was a 10 minute interview, which is pretty good for radio, but it
MUST have been pre-taped (which jjj does a lot more than you'd ever
think, guys), because it went on air in Qld at 10 to 9pm and in the
interview Ben had just finished his soundcheck.
He sounded pretty cheerful (although embarressed, at times, by the dj's
complete doey-ness) and to answer one question about the venue, he
started singing the first bit of Stayin' Alive (Ben did a great
imitation), cause he said the venue was very 'chrome' or something.
When the dj asked if Ben was sick of touring WAEA, he said yes, but not
in Australia, because they'd only toured it here once before. Ben said
he was suprised Brick had done so well in Oz, because it's a 'winter'
song. After playing Japan, bff go home to work on the next album.
On the infamous midday show appearance, which Ben described as an
'over-75 audience', he commented: "you know how a lot of people clap at
the end of songs? They, they didn't do that.(laughs)" When the dj said
something about bff maybe having a reputation in oz because of the
midday show, Ben noted that it was more of a comparative thing: "back
home, we're like the church boy five or something."
For those of you who find these things interesting, Ben said he
holidayed for a month in Australia in January, went all around the
place, and that he likes Australia. Riley (or Friley, which is what it
sounded like when Ben said it) also made an appearance. I personally
found this bit amusing because the dj didn't know who Riley was. Here's
a transcription:
Ben: you wanna say hey to Riley?
DJ: sure
Riley: who am I talking to?
Ben: triple j
Riley: oh. hello. (extremely unexcited)
DJ: what do you do for the ben folds five?
Ben: what do you do for ben folds five?
Riley: eat m&m's
Ben: she's the m and m eater.
a bit later when the dj mentions that two girls emailed jjj to ask if
bff had a fan club in Australia, he said:
Ben: I don't know, my um... we've got a fan club of one, anyway. Um, my
girlfriend's Australian.
DJ; oh really
Ben: yeah that was her, that was Riley
DJ: ahhh
Ben: she's my fanclub, I can't... (laughs) I don't know...we probably,
I don't know if there's anything organised or not.
the dj says that the two girls, Jessica and Michelle ([are these
armchairers? I wonder]) have offered to set one up and to paraphrase Ben
is pleased and says if they go to a gig they should talk to Doug Goodman
"he's our Tour Manager". The dj says: "you'll probably have everyone in
Australia asking for Doug". Ben says "actually you should, just everyone
ask for Doug, come to the door and ask for Doug Goodman.(laughs)"
([wonder how Doug feels about that?!])
As has been noted in another post, Ben picked 'the Ultimate Sacrifice'
- - and if you think about it we're lucky in Australia that we have a
station like jjj, because I doubt many other stations would even have
NBP, let alone play something from it.
um, yeah, so there we have it from the man himself, on the girlfriend
topic.
In terms of the Aussie fan club....?
sorry, again, about the length.

Hey this is bree nevin and I did not intend to make ben's private life

also on radio last night and he put her on the phone to say hi. So I am
sorry that you have reached this conclusion and I really don't wanna
cause any grief to anyone, i was just proud that ben had met up with a
great Aussie and was happy.
Nothing more, nothing less
In any case I am gonna unsubscribe cause I don't need this.

it an

A couple months ago the band put out a call for anyone who had video of
local TV and cable appearances or hand-held footage of concerts to
get in touch. Their management will be contacting those who responded in

If you have any such video (local TV only - they already have the

duplicate, please e-mail me at maynard@oeonline.com and I will forward

Well, I only heard a few parts of the song through an mp3 file and i still
dont know why it's labeled as a "ska remix". It's just got some strings in
it. It's Kate with the instruments used in Smoke, thats all. Im writing this
because i thought there might just be a REAL ska mix of Kate. That would be
tres-neat.

Subject: Perth Show....
Greetings all....
Well - I arrived back from a month in Japan to be greeted the next
evening by BFF... what more could one ask for??? I managed to purchase
the Japanese releases of their CDs as well as the Bus Stop and Snuzz
CDs.... Excellent CDs - Well worth the money... Couldn't find Domo Ben
Chan Desu though...Anyways - on to more important stuff.
The Perth show last night went off... The atmosphere was different from
last time - the venue being a lot bigger... but the boys did not
disappoint...
They opened with Pyser (if my memory serves me correct...) But then
Roberts bass amp packed it in so Ben and Darren improvised for a while.
They played a song dedicated to Geoff Harvey (of the Midday Show fame..)
"Thanks Geoff Harvey...". Very entertaining... The amps were eventually
fixed by the roadies...
The next song they played, Robert proceeded to break a string. So Ben
played a couple of country and western songs... again showing his
showmanship and musicianship by filling the gaps. He was also chatting
to the audience - asking us what we wanted to hear... A couple of us
yelled out "Tom and Mary" quite loudly - hoping he would hear... Ben
also shared with us the fact that he was wearing "Blundies" (boots) that
he purchased while he was here last time . He also informed us that his
underwear and socks were also purchased in australia (he then proceeded
to show us his boxers......)
The string was fixed and another song was played - only to find that -
yes - Robert broke another string... Robert didn't miss a beat - I
can't remember what song it was exactly but one couldn't tell that a
string was missing (another example of their astounding musicianship).
While it was being fixed - Ben started "Boxing" - and by the time the
bass was required Robert was ready...
Songs played - Steven's; Brick (of course - to the obvious delight of a
vast majority of the audience.....); underground (without intro); last
Polka (my fav..); Jackson Cannery; Selfless; boxing; philosophy;
julianne (with calypso-like start); OAD; SFTD; Battle ;and maybe one or
two others that I cannot recall at the moment....
They finished their set (about one hours worth..) and went off stage...
They stayed off for a good 3-4 minutes while the crowd went wild....
They came back foo their encore. Much to my delight they played Tom and
Mary!!!! followed by Uncle Walter (about and old lady....)
All in all a fantastic show.... They were full of energy - no tiredness
to be seen ..... obviously enjoying themselves... Many musical
interludes were extended and improvised on...
Well that is all I really have to report on the show. Needless to say
they lived up to expectations....
The rest of Australia has a lot to look forward to...
Until the next time...
Adam from Oz
PS - Having missed a months worth of armchairs - if there was anything
vastly exciting/informative/interesting that occurred/was discussed
during this time - if someone could relate them to me it would be much
appreciated....
