PLEASE DONT GIVE PUFF DADDY ANYMORE IDEAS!!!
He already buchered "Kashmir" with that terrible excuse of a song "Come
With Me".
Come With Me doesnt make any sense! The lyrics are pitiful. and the
video? ugh.

Subject: i was bored so i made a BEN FOLDS FIVE CD.
Alright. I was bored last saturday so i did what i always do...SPEND
SOME MONEY! WOOHOO!
I went to the local Best Buy store and bought a CD Burner and a Ten pack
of TDK CD-R discs.
As soon as i got home I had a brain storm! A 74 minute CD deadicated to
the best band in the world BEN FOLDS FIVE! I collected all my boot tapes
and MP3s and started the process of making this cd. 3 and 1/2 hours
later I ended up with a cd called
"What the F%CK" : a collection of rare and live songs from BEN
FOLDS FIVE"
the tracks are as follows:
1. 4 Seconds of Silence (ACTUALLY 4 SECONDS OF SILENCE! WOOHOO!)
2. For All The Pretty People
3. Fair (Strings Version)
4. Guilty (From the original Demo Tape)
5. Air (From The GODZILLA Soundtrack)
6. Video Killed The Radio Star (Live Perfromance)
7. Mitchell Lane
8. Song For The Dumped (7/17/98 Late Night with Conan O'Brien)
9. Rocky
10. Elvin Bishop (Live Performance)
11. Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head(TNT's Burt Bacarach Special)
12. Half Asleep (From the original Demo Tape)
13. Theme From 'Dr. Pyser' (Live Performance)
14. Battle Of Who Could Care Less (Live Performance on Late Night)
15. Brick (Live Performance on Saturday Night Live)
16. Hava Nagila (Live and very ODD Performance)
17. One Angry Dwarf And 200 Solemn Faces
(Live Performance on The Jenny Macarthy Show)
18. Underground (Live Performance)
19. Smoke (Strings Version)
20. Kate (Strings Version)
The sound is PERFECT! I really impressed myself.
The CD is 70 minutes and 56 seconds (minus the 4 second screw up of
track 1).
The cover is a cool Video Capture of Ben from the Conan show on the 17th
of july.
It is him looking into the camera and hold the mic with this look on his
face that just screams "What the Fuck?"
so there you go. if anyone is interested maybe we could strike up a
deal.

Good to read some positive reviews of Friday night.
Did anyone else feel like the guys were a bit pissed off at the
crowd? I was upstairs (damn ticketmaster!) a few rows behind Cath
and her group seemed to be the only ones having any fun up there.
Even the people down the front didn't seem to be up and dancing, just
sitting quietly in their seats. There were more people standing up
near the stage for Snout!
Did the guys say much about the crowd after the show? (Julie????)
Well done to Bree's friend for the Geoff Harvey album, very cool and
I think Ben was genuinely surprised and amused that this guy has a
record out!
Did anyone find out what the conversation between Ben & Rob was
about? They promised to tell us at the end but of course didn't.
If anyone got a boot of the show would love a copy.

Hey,
For anyone interested.. I can get bumper stickers.. there's a local music
store (neato place!) that stocks them. They're 2 dollars a piece, and i guess
tax and postage. (or maybe we could set up a trade?) I could get them after I
go back down there for school.. And for anyone living in / near tuscaloosa
(al), its whirligig, on university near downtown. Just thought i would share!

'six FOOT one' would be a rather good cover... or, possibly my
recent cover song idea, 'f*ck and run' with the boyfriend/guy related
lines switched to girlfriend/woman.
and, to throw my hat into the 'bff HAS to cover this' ring, i have
the perfect suggestion -- give darren the mike and let him do a
little rap song. what little rap song would i be thinking of, you're
asking? 'ice ice baby' by vanilla ice. i don't think i need to say
any more. =)

(warning - this post contains a lot of 24hr-cynicism and anti-brick
sentiment... read at your own risk)
I'm a little peeved. Mostly at the two people hanging around near me
outside the Palais while i waited for my friend (and ticket) to arrive
who managed to score two tickets from some kid with glasses and braces
who couldn't have been more than 15 years of age, for no more than $30.
Man, he's got a lot to learn about scalping tickets. Reminds me of that
bit from The Life of Brian where Graham Chapman refuses to haggle.
Anyway... they were nice kids, they got in cheap.
I'm also a little peeved at the venue. For as nice as the Palais is, it's
a *sit down* joint... ye cannae have no fun sittin' down! And being way
way back in row DD you only stand up and boogie when all the people
between you and the stage are doing likewise, lest you incur the wrath of
the kids behind you. I wonder how many people heard me scream 'get up,
get up you losers!' when everyone decided to sit down after One Angry
Dwarf finished. I didn't mean it personally, honest.
The security there were their normal, pensive selves... looking for any
opportunity to glean satisfaction from telling kids to get the hell back
to their seats. No sense of fun and enjoyment. So what does it matter if
a few people stand up and groove in the aisles? Hell, if i wasn't half
way to the aisle i would've done so myself. Damn wank*rs!
The highlight was, of course, Snout. No complaints there. BF5 were
nowhere near as energetic as when i saw them last year. But maybe that's
because i was standing up & grooving... At least they played Selfless,
Cold and Composed. I was yelling like hell on the inside.
Yes, Snout. I'm sure all 10 people in the venue (it was disappointingly
half empty at the time) who knew the words to the Snout songs loved it as
much as I did. When Robert learns to throw his bass five metres in the
air and catch it behind his back, then keep playing, like Ross did, then
I'll be impressed. I'll probably cop flack for saying this, but I enjoyed
Snout considerably more than Ben & the boys. Despite the nonchalant,
disinterested nature of the crowd. They were just great.
I was enjoying BF5 a lot until... half way through... or thereabouts... I
was thinking to myself... this is good, a fair way into the show and
still no Brick. I'm pleased, I'm happy. And then they play it. It would
have been poetic justice, I guess, if they had've left it out of the set.
Some kind of political gesture, I guess, but i decided not to clap after
that. Maybe I'm too cynical.... at least all the fuck**g 16 year old
girls in their newly purchased tour t-shirts had a song they knew the
words to.
Well... at least they did a few from Naked Baby Photos. And Dr Peyser...
man, that rocks.
Got to meet Ross' girlfriend after the show, she's a sweet, sweet gal.
Unfortunately he and the band left straight after their set, so I didn't
get any cd's signed or the like.
anyways... sorry to get all 24 hour cynic on you' asses. Sometimes ones
spleen needs venting...
oh, almost forgot... Ran into friends of friend after the show who had
way better seats than we did... they said there was a considerable amount
of tension between Robert & Ben during the show... did anyone else notice
this? We were way too far back to tell. But then... on recovery Sat.
morning, maybe it was just because I'd been told about this supposed
tension, or maybe it was there, but there seemed to be a bit going on -
more than usual - between the two. Then there was that incident... i
*think* it was just before one angry dwarf? could anyone correct me on
this? - where Ben went over to Robert and whispered somethign in his ear,
they conversed for a few seconds, then ben stepped up to the stage mic
and said something like 'normally we have a little chat and we let people
in on it straight away, but this time i don't think we will - maybe i'll
tell you all after the set...'
Perhaps this had something to do with it... but then who knows... it
could have all been crap.

Okay, just some quick comments on Friday night's gig.
1. In response to whoever it was that said thir dad caimed he wouldn't
fall asleep at a BF5 concert... Picture it: the boys are playing
Julianne, it's very loud, and my boyfriend starts falling asleep. True
he was suffering from some extreme sleep deprivation, but it's not
really excusable.
2. An Uncle Walter lyric change to "How could you leave me here so long
with Pauline Hanson?" Good work, Ben.

What's the joke? Besides the author of that article having some major, major
grammatical flaws (especially spelling Ben's last name with out the "s"), it
all looks legit. The review says that they played awesome. I don't doubt that
for a second. It says that Darren and Robert's skills should not be overlooked
when compared to all the hype Ben gets. I agree. Perhaps you found that little
bit at the bottom, "Ben Folds Five are now in the studio recording their third
album." Look carefully. The review is from December of 1997 and their third
album was NBP which came out in Feb. (US). And while there really wasn't much
new recording on their part for NBP, I'm sure you can see where they were
coming from. So therefore, as Ben Kenobi would say, what he was saying was the
truth, "from a certain point of view." But that is, unless you found something
else to be a joke on that page that I didn't see. You know, you weren't all
that specific. :)

Julie covered all about the concert in Melbourne quite well, but she
missed out one tiny thing. We met 2 of the biggest fans of BFF. Why
do I say this? Cos they're following BFF around Australia and
going to all the concerts!! I've forgotten there names, but if
anyone in Sydney or Brisbane gets to talk to the guys before the
shows, let them know so they can be publicly acknowedged. They
deserve it!!!!!!!

He does look spiffy in his standard brown jacket, though. And it's still
