Hello all you dedicated BFF fans out there,
Allow me to introduce myself (maniacal cackles abound). Hmmm. sorry about
that
little outburst. I've been watching you armchairers for quite a while now
from
the rafters, now I'm ready to jump down and scare you all senseless! (Waa
haa
haa haa) I'm a BFF fan from the good 'ol UK! I've been listening to BFF for
about two years now spreading the BFF bug to everybody I could during that
period. The first BFF song I ever heard was Underground and from that
moment on
I was hooked. My interest in BFF has never really waned although the music
press over here has grown a considerable like to them (NME et al). It makes
me
sick solmetimes that they could praise "Underground" so much when it came
out
as a single and then completely slag off "Naked Baby Photos". Music
journalists
are so fickle!
Oh yeah, while I remember. Calling all UK BFF fans!!! Come on! I KNOW
YOU'RE
out there!
POINTLESS FACTS ABOUT MESELF:
- - I go to university in Manchester (where I saw my first BFF gig at the MDH
last year)
- - Brick is not my favourite BFF song (so I'm in with BFF for the long
haul!)
- - My favourite BFF song is: Where's Summer B? (I don't know what I like
about
it in particular)
- - A few other bands/artist(e)s I listen to:
Eagle Eye Cherry
Del Amitri
Jamiroquai
Sheryl Crow
Finley Quaye
Super Furry Animals
but most of all... BEN FOLDS FIVE!!!!!
I DEFY ANYONE TO COME UP WITH ANYONE WHO MAKES COOLER MUSIC...... I excuse
me
while I get my breath back.
By the way I think that "Air" is a cool soundtrack song. How is this for
trainspotting, if you ever go and see Godzilla (which is OK to turn your
brains
off in front of for a few hours), listen very carefully when the main
scientist
gut (I forget his name) goes into the pharmacy, in the background it's
playing
there. I also spotted Jamiroquai's "Deeper Underground" somewhere but I
forget
now.
I hope I haven't ostracised myself with this email, from all you
armchairers in
one fell swoop.
- - dave
PS: I'm sorry if this appears more than once I'm havin' trouble with my
dang
ISP. Ooops! I said dang!

Really people, I'm getting sick of reading messages just like this 10
times a day. "Oh, Ben Folds FIve is the best! I just bought WEAE and it
rocks!" Shut up! We all know they're good albums! We all know WEAE rocks!
Would we be on this list if we didn't? Why do some chairers feel it is
necessary to tell us when they get WEAE when every other chairer
doubtless has had it for at least a year? I see kids with Bf5 shirts on
every day, and they know almost nothing about the band. Half of these
shirt-wearin'
mom-waiting-outside-the-club-to-pick-you-up-after-the-concert 14 year
olds can barely sing "Brick". And I see enough of this type of ignorance
without trying, I don't need to be on a mailing list that shovels it down
my throat. Don't get me wrong, this list is usually interesting, but the
endless "bff is the best...love, Suzy the 14 year old" posts are really
getting old.

Did this replace OMEGA??? I'm a KU alum (grad'd in 95) and no condolences

Minneapolis, but the Bottleneck is the better known venue of the 2
although the Granada did make an effort to book lesser-known folks.

Don't tell me you're a Mizzou fan. Or, heaven forbid, a K-State fan. :)
Anyway, just to add some more pertinent content, I didn't get a chance to
see BFF when they came through on the festival tour (w/ Soul Asylum, Beck,
other bands I can't think of now). I did get to see them last fall at
First Ave (the place where _Purple Rain_ was filmed; Prince's old
hangout). Great show! About 2000-3000 people all crammed up against the
stage. They brought an audience member up who wanted to play 'Underground'
while they sang but Ben told him to sing and Ben would play. Guy did
a good job with the falsetto stuff, too. I'm gald they've found some
success now but I hope it doesn't mean they won't play the small gigs
when they come back here. Target Center (or any larger arena) just sucks
for acoustics...let's just hope they never take the path of arena rock.
"Are you ready...for the Ultimate Sacrifice?!?!?!?!?"
Really enjoying the list so far (all of a week+ of getting it). Keep up
the good discussions and stories.

Hey guys, I dont post much but I'm a huge fan of Ben Folds. I was wondering
about those bumper stickers. I saw people at a recent concert carrying them
around but I didn't see any verders that carried them. I'm totally disapointed
because I'd love to have one on my car. I heard that they handed them out free
at other concerts. If anyone has a spare or knows where I could get one then
could you please email to LibJad43@aol.com. Thanks a lot guys!

Leigh's post is right on the money on E-bay. I check the site regularly but
refuse to
bid those incredible amounts that some items go for. Its sad to see that a
CD-r that a guy probably stole from the net(for less then 5 bucks) ended up
with 60. Soon enough things like this will ruin it for the "good traders" out
there that are doing it for the music not a buck.
Thanks again leigh
