WARNING ON OFF-TOPIC MESSAGES
I hate to have to be list-mom again, but consider this a warning that
those who post off-topic messages may be removed from the Armchair. I
consider much of the recent discussion on racial matters to be off-topic,
particularly the personal insults, and the discussion is largely
inappropriate. Like your mom, my judgment may appear to be arbitrary but
in order to keep an all-out fight from breaking out, some of you are going
to have to go to your room.

Just wanted to let everyone know that now that I have had a chance to listen
to the Fluid Ounces CD a bunch more times, I am officially upgrading my grade
from "OK" to "Very Good". Once through I wasn't terribly impressed although I
didn't think it was bad. Now that it's had a chance to grow on me, I would
recommend this CD to anyone - especially anyone on this list. I've played the
CD about 100 times in a row now and can't get the songs out of my head. My
favorites: "Milk Moustache", "Tricky Fingers", "Record Stack", "Poor Man" and
"Spill Your Brains".

Ahh, I missed Hard Rock Live! I was in Philly, walking down Walnut Street,
and I realized "Shit! Ben Folds Five tonight!" So if anyone knows when it
will re-air, please tell me!

So who's the smart girl who forgot it was on at 7pm? And came home from work,
saw the very end of SFTD and screamed? Yeah, that's me. My question is, does
anyone know if and when this will be re-run? Thanks ever so much.

<Anyone know anthing more about who Ben says have influenced or
impressed
him? I know that Ben is a big fan of The Divine Comedy and Belle &
Sebastian, from the UK scene, but anyone know of any other bands that
they tip the hat to?>
I saw in an interview that Ben likes The Flaming Lips and I think he
said that he went thru a Prodigy phase.

Hey, what about the simply awesome brothers Flemion? aka THE FROGS. You
know, they signed to Scratchie records (owned by two of the Smashing
Pumpkins), and released an amazing EP called "Starjob". Before that they had
some other great stuff too. Oh well, they rule, check them out too.

just caught that POP UP VIDEO of "brick." It seemed like they treated it
kind of strangely.
On one hand, the weird animation stuff they did with Rob's bow and the
cane for Darren. I don't watch it much, but I hadn't seen that kind of
stuff before where they actually ALTER the video. It was pretty funny.
On another hand, probably my left........ the "pops" they did seemed
pretty lame. And the summary at the end was COMPLETELY uneventful. I'm
sure I'm just biased.
lovin' every minute of it,
michigan joe

songs!!!
They were robbed!! Oh well, I still got to hear Emaline live :)
>>
They also did "Song for the dumped" which was damn cool in my book. They also
did "Brick" (for those top 40 enthusists that also love Celine Dion) *note
that "Brick is still a good song, "OAD" and "Emaline". I was disapointed with
Squeeze on the other hand, the singers voice has gotten too strained out from
what it used to be, Besides that though it was a really good show.

On a good note:
Tell me how cool it was that Robert played the intro to "Sabbath Bloody
Sabbath" when Ben introduced him.
On a bad note:
Tell me I wasn't the only person who noticed how fucked up the sound
quality was.
And for gawd's sake, someone help me track down and slap the person in the
control booth who decided which shots to use during the show. (Obviously
not the brightest bulb in the business.)

Hey,
I was wondering if the guys ever make "Air" a part of the setlist...I haven't
seen any setlists which include Air so I was just kinda curious...I was
wishing they'd play it at the show I was at a couple months ago but
unfortunately they didn't....Oh well they kicked ass anyways!!
Friday was HORDE day here so I went with a bunch of my friends...I wore my
"Kiss My Ass" shirt and I think I was one of two people who had BFF shirts
on...Anyways BNL was awesome! They did a sweet rendition of the Spice Girls
"Spice Up Your Life" and Memory from Cats..They were quite cool...Anyways see
ya around guys!

Subject: renewed faith
Hi there,
The Live at the Wireless broadcast was a good start, and what I heard
this morning completely renewed my faith in Triple J as a great
station. I came into my room and caught the most part of song for the
dumped- yes, people, a radio station that doesn't exclusively play
"Brick"! (I do love Brick, BTW, but I do believe BFF has better
tracks). I missed the first part so I am not sure if they censored
it, but as it was ten to nine and lots of businesses play JJJ I
wouldn't have blamed them if they did... It is nice to know that BFF
is getting further out there, especially in a mainstream audience.
Speaking of which, Sydney siders, I have inside info into a show at
UNSW Kensington (ie one of my housemates is in the cast) - this year's
law revue, Godzillaw, is using "Underground" for one of the musical
pieces. The lyrics will be changed in order not to run into any copy
righting troubles, but it should be fun to see. Anyone interested in
checking it out, mail me and I will get more details for you.
Ela
