WARNING ON OFF-TOPIC MESSAGES
I hate to have to be list-mom again, but consider this a warning that
those who post off-topic messages may be removed from the Armchair. I
consider much of the recent discussion on racial matters to be off-topic,
particularly the personal insults, and the discussion is largely
inappropriate. Like your mom, my judgment may appear to be arbitrary but
in order to keep an all-out fight from breaking out, some of you are going
to have to go to your room.

Hey I have a quick question for all you fans--does anyone know where I could
find a place that had a bunch of quotes from Ben Folds? I found this quote
"Well, sometimes I punch myself as hard as I can, yelling nobody cares, hoping
someone will tell me how wrong I am." and I have no idea what it is from or
where they said it. Could someone help me here? Thanks a lot.

I found a web-page with GREAT pictures of the guys. The web-page is
www.z95.com. It's a local radio station here in Vancouver BC. When you
get to the web-page, click on the button that says pictures and then
type in Ben Folds Five. I thought they were pretty good.
Enjoy them, Leesa

Ha ha ha... I was in Brisbane today, anyone who lives there, I was
actually in Galaxy music, and I got... the Australian "Uncle Walter"
single!!! It^Òs also got "Tom and Mary" live and "Emaline" live on it.
It^Òs really hard to find so yay! It was ridiculously overpriced though
- - I paid $17 for it (a normal Australian single costs about $8 for
those of ya^Òll that don^Òt know). You^Òre probably all laughing at me
for being so sucked in to spend that. Oh well. If anyone just wants a
tape of the songs, you can e-mail me and we^Òll discuss it (no trade is
really necessary but it would be nice).
Also, anyone want a copy of the Australian "Brick" single (with
"Smoke" live, ska remix "Kate" and "Mitchell Lane" on it, I have an
extra copy but the cover thing isn^Òt whole... a friend of mine brought
the single, cut up the cardboard sleeve thingy to put it into a CD
case, and decided she didn^Òt like it, so she gave it to me. It^Òs a
weird colour too. Anyone here with that single, do you have a olive
green CD with brownish-purpleish writing or a lighter green CD with
darker brownish-purpleish writing? (great descriptions, I know. You
probably have no clue.) It^Òs actually pretty difficult to tell if you
haven^Òt seen this colour, it^Òs very odd. Did they have to make more
copies? Maybe they were a different colour. But there^Òs no scratches
or anything on it, it sounds fine, so if anyone wants it...? Traders?
Also at Galaxy music there are pictures of BF5 at last year^Òs livid
festival, they^Òre okay, but they cost $4 each, so if any traders want
them, I can buy them and send them to you, but I^Òm too cheap to do it
for people who can^Òt trade. Sorry :(
Does anyone have the "BOWCCL" single? I would love it if someone could
tape me the one with
"Theme to Dr. Pyser" and "Champagne Supernova" on it. Or does anyone
have the English "Brick" with "She Don^Òt Use Jelly" on it? I^Òd also
love that one. I don^Òt have much to tape for you, but I can tape the
Australian "Brick" b-sides or the "Uncle Walter" b-sides. You can send
me a blank tape if you like and I^Òll tape them for you.
Oh, yeah, on last Saturday night, they had the Net 50 charts on Triple
J, which is the one where people vote for their favourite songs.
"Brick" was at 25, but "Song for the Dumped" was at number 2!! Cool.
Some people are finally listening to good music.
Also, earlier on in the Net 50, they played part of this song by
Harvey Danger I think they were called, and the guy DJ said something
like "their problem is they think they^Òre the Ben Folds Five", and the
girl DJ said "they^Òre not!" in this tone of ^Ñhow dare you even suggest
that^Ò. I thought it was funny, anyway. And notice that they called
them ^Ñthe^Ò Ben Folds Five, any other people getting very sick of that?
I am.
Oh, I just thought of this - on the NBP version of "underground",
during the intro, someone shouts out "who the fuck are you" after the
"i^Òm sure you don^Òt remember me" line. Who was at that show, do you
know who said it? Thought maybe it was a Armchairer. Also are the live
versions of "Tom and Mary" and "Emaline" on the "uncle Walter" single
from that same show? (the cover on "uncle Walter" says Ziggys, Salem,
8/95.) And which live versions of the same songs are on "Where^Òs
Summer B.?" single?
And... go to my web site at http://members.xoom.com/crystal_bf5/
there are currently 3 desktop pictures there I think, I^Òm not sure,
but more are on the way. Also heaps of other stuff you probably all
know, but hey. Also I^Òve got a whole lot of interviews and articles
and stuff you
can read.
That was probably a record length post for me. Sorry to put you
through that.
Crystal

enuf with the 'frogs'etc stuff, it seems nonbentent to my eyes. :)
.......
here's a nice little thing that happened to me, that isn't important,
but I thought I'd share with people who understand (coz my non-bff
friends shake their heads at me)
I went to a buddy's 21st yesterday expecting it to be berefit of any
bffmusic, and lo and behold I espy the self-titled album in the
multi-disc player. 'oooooh' I say to myself, 'who here has taste enuf to
own that album and bring it to parties for others listening pleasure, I
wonder?'
well after a long period where someone else indulged their whim to
listen to the cookie monster album ( I kid you not! 'C is for cookie,
cookie is for...' is still humming in my cranium) I finally discovered
who had brought the bff cd, (a friend of a friend...) and we struck up a
conversation and indulged in our excellent musical desire to play tracks
off the album and defied anyone who would put other music on (well for
15 minutes anyway...). So essentially I had a pretty good time and he
also taped 'sessions' when it was on a couple weeks ago, which I didn't,
and will give me a copy (yay!)
so nothing very important there, just life being nice to me on the bff
side of things, when I'd been moaning about having no one to dance with
when the non-'singles' bff tracks are on.
and surely that's just as pertintent as posts about other bands ;)
taves
'when yob and wanker want a girl
the wanker guy will get her
both of them are equally ugly
the wanker hides it better'

I listen to triple m every now and then at night but consider it =

Well my question is why are they playing bff when they usually want to =
pass off every other form of music that isnt strictly rock music as 'rap =

Just so everyone knows, the winning bid for my copy of the Jackson Cannery 7" was submitted by the "Lucky 13" Powerball prize winners! Incredibly, they offered me an even-up exchange and I accepted!!!
But seriously, folks, the winning bid consisted of $$$, BF5 TV and concert appearances, bootlegs, some promos, stickers and Jellyfish soundboard bootlegs, audio and video.
I received some very nice bids, both in terms of their generosity and the sincerity with which they were tendered, and I thank all of you who took an interest in this matter.

Chairers:
I caught Hard Rock Live Monday night at Midnight (my time, it was 1 AM on
the East coast) and I noticed something strange...
When Ben first picks up the piano stool to throw it at the keyboard, the
seat part breaks off. Well, if you look carefully at his lips, now I admit it
was late and I was tired, but it seems to me like he exclaimed "Fuck!" when
the seat broke off and fell down.
If I'm right, I can't believe VH1 didn't catch it in editing.
Also....was there someone offstage that handed him a new stool to throw? I
think there would have to have been.
That's all for now.

Person of
the Century Poll1 by Time Magazine for the Person of the Century
(convienently enough.) There are already a couple of groups out there (namely
the They Might Be Giants fanclub and a bunch of crazy Led Zepplin fans) that
are suggesting band members. There's nobody really important ON that list.. in
fact, Jesus Christ tops the charts. He's not even FROM this century! Eric
