Hey,
I was listening to Ben Folds Five the other day and my dad heard it. He said
it sounded a lot like a 70's band called "The Lovin' Spoonful" (Twisted, huh?)
Anyway, he said a lot of BF5's signature piano was similar to this other band.
i have no idea what they are, but naturally I was psyched to hear there's
another band that could possibly have Ben Fold's piano talent!! (I know, I
know, it's unlikley.) Anyway, if anyone has any info. on them, let me know.
Also about all you people who are looking for posters-- You may not be able
to find them in stores, but have you looked at poster places online? Maybe
there's a poster.com??!! I'm sure you'll be able to find one on the internet--
if I see anything I'll let you know--

There is an imported SFTD single which has been available for awhile now..
It's just the same cover as bowccl but with sftd on it (obviously) and it
has the same b-sides as one angry dwarf (bad idea and for all the pretty
people)
I've got in at the beginning of the year and it says in was made in
austria!! (??)
pretty weird..

I feel your pain, Lauren. Try living in Conway.
I can't find any kind of music, posters, movies, or anything of the sort
that I really like. If it's not mainstream, they don't have it. Of
course, how NOT mainstream are Ben Folds Five.

Hey all-
I am completley suprised there wasn't more talk on the Armchair before the
showing of FANatic tonight.
Oh well. Ben, Robert, and Darren all blessed my TV screen with their presence
tonight, and I hope EVERYONE out there got to have 8 minutes of greatness upon
them too.
The interviewer was quite hilarious. I would be BEYOND nervous as he seemed to
be.
I want to go back and count the "Thank you's." I am a little upset that he
didn't ask any questions really. MTV must have rushed him. Oh well. I had not
seen ONE BFF video before tonight and I caught a glimpse of Brick, Uncle
Walter, and SFTD!
YAY! I am so happy! That was the most amazing 8 minutes in a while. (I don't
get out much) Hee hee
Anyhow, anyone else have any comments about tonight's viewing?

OK...... Let's just say, on FANatic, there was A LOT of nice video clips from
them.. I liked that part a lot... Got to see them on the tv instead of the
clips I downloaded over the computer. Ok, that aside, I thought it was really
bad!!! I mean, they had him rambling on and on and then actually got to ask
them 2 questions. We didn't get to learn a hell of a lot of stuff from them,
cuz they didn't answer anything. And did anyone else notice that they had on
THREE different stars, instead of the normal TWO??? Hmmm... Wonder why that
happened... Prolly cut a lot from the BFF segment so we could learn about
Korn's dreams... Hey- what a band there.. Korn. Whatever!!

I waited all day to see FANatic, with Ben FOlds Five on it, and it seemed
slightly dissapointing to me. Don't get me wrong in any way that any one of
you could possibly find that first sentense as offensive in any way, shape, or
form. I just noticed that MTV seemed to wisk right by Ben Folds Five as Brick
played in the background for the majority of the filming. The boys were great,
as usual, however, they were not given as much time (it seemed) as the others,
(Korn and someone else). I was not left completely unfilled because seeing
them was a delight in itself, but I wish they could have taken more time and
answered more questions. Just had to give my peice. Later~

Hey hey everyone--
I've got one thing to say about MTV's FANatic: 10 minutes?! What the hell is
that?!
Ah well...at least it was something. Although I would have liked to hear more
from Darren. (Ahem...) Well...can't complain.

Hey people.....First off I just want to thank you for not bashing me so
far.....There was a TON OF GREAT STUFF that just didn't make it onto the show
(for instance my more than 5 mentions of the armchair)......
A lot of people wanted to know if Darren Spoke. Well...he did. Out of the 18
questions I asked...they aired about one and half. I'll post a blow by blow of
what REALLY happened and some of the more interesting info within the next few
days. Take Care people.

Time to let out some info and opinions...
1) The whole "Lady Madonna" thing. I agree with y'all that these three
songs sound quite similar. But being influenced by a band's perfectly
alright; I mean, look at Oasis, they've made a career of it. The true
rip-off artists are hip-hoppers, especially anyone in the Bad Boy clique.
Now I can't listen
to "Kashmir" without thinking of the lyrics to "Come With Me" (even
though I admit it was worth it to live through and get to "Air" on that
CD, currently fighting for my fave BFF pick.) And I can't hear Gloria
Estefan without envisioning Mase's half-conscious muttering... if I could
only figure out which is worse... :P
2) This whole lyric thing. If you just went to the boys' website
(http://www.bffweb.com), you'll find everything you need as far as major
releases go, save for "Cigarette" (not in insert to WAEA,) and "Fanny Packs"
(improvized on the spot.) But for those of y'all who are too lazy,
here's the NBP version.

Does anyone know what the inspiration for this song was? Is it merely
dedicated to the 1930s jazz style, or is it biographical? Who is 'Howard'?
These are the sort of questions that cause insomnia. Someone help!!
