<<I find this disrespectful of VH1 to refer to ben folds five as "this BRICK
band">>
Okay, okay, I find this sort of upsetting too, but I have to point out that
not too many people know about Ben Folds 5 other than Brick, which is what
they hear on the radio. Would it be better if they said "This Emaline Band" or
something random like that? For a non- Armchairer, on Jeapordy, that's a
million- point question! We're talking about the general public here.
Also, I find it rather funny that it's "Kate" that's on the Sabrina soundtrack
or whatever, with the Cranberries and Spice Girls and Hanson and all that
crap, because that's a really good song. Even though it's not, like, their
best, deepest, most thought- provoking song, it's PERKY! and FUN! and UPBEAT!
and I guess that's what they want for a STYLISH! TEEN! like SABRINA!

I know everyone is tired of Fear of Pop questions, but I for one am
really tired of all these freaking BIRTHDAY questions. Who the hell
cares? I have a birthday everyone, it's Sept. 11th. I hope to god that
when I'm a rock star I don't have people on a mailing list discussing
nothing else than when I was born. Wow, I've sidetracked...
so does anyone know what record label Fear of Pop is coming out on?

While we're on the subject of look-alikes, does anyone else see the
resemblance between Robert Sledge and the actor who plays Eric
Matthews on the cheesy show "Boy Meets World"? It's on during TGIF
on ABC. I don't know the actor's name though. Just wondering if I
was the only one who thought they looked alike.

I beg to differ. I personally *love* "Kalamazoo". It's a beautiful
song. And "Cool Whip" is great. I've never heard "Lonely" or "Half
Asleep", but I'm sure I'd love them! : )

I'm glad someone noticed, bf5@surry.net especially, that stuff is being
repeated on the 'chair recently. And STP1237@home.com, I really hope I don't
piss you off too much.. I wasn't totally pin pointing you exactly, you know??
I was just using it as an example... I hope you at least do realize that stuff
is being said over again. I just don't want you to be pissed at me, I don't
want anyone to be pissed at me at all for that matter!! :)
My whole point of the post was to say, HEY!! Stuff is being repeated. Period.
Amen, Sweet Moses!! Don't want to get anyone's panties in a bundle!!!!!!! ;)
Thats all..

Last night on the net50 on triple j, I heard steven^Òs last night in town
and the jap. version of SFTD!! what happened was I was on the computer,
and my sister called me. and I^Òm like grrrrrrrr, cause I didn^Òt wanna go
see what was happening but I did and I heard "...just in case by
tomorrow..." my sister was freaking out cause she really hates steven^Òs.
it was at no. 19, it debuted (?) there so thats pretty cool, considering
it^Òs not even a single. Also SFTD was at I
think number 7, and they played the jap version, but they cut off the
end, they didn^Òt play all the cool talking bit. Grrr.

Hey all you BFF fanatics!
I'm a new subscriber to the Magical Armchair and I reckon the whole
thing rocks! If anyone of you out there has any Ben Folds Five sheet
music could they please please please let me know ASAP. I'm totally
obsessed with these guys, I love them soooo much (I swear I'm the no.1
fan in my whole country). My favourite songs would have to be
Philosophy, Underground, Jackson Cannery, Battle of Who Could Care Less,
Brick, Evaporated and Fair. A lot of you sound like you're really lucky
'cause you get to see them on TV. I live in Australia and have to get up
in the middle of the night if I want to see Brick (which is the only
clip they ever play here).
Thanks for putting up with my complaining!
Nat

Thanx Joe S for your comments on Joe Jackson. I agree with what you
said, but I probably should have clarified myself better. What I meant
about the piano in Alice Childress was that it resembled the piano sound
in one or two of JJ's songs. It seemed to me very similar to a snippet
of one the piano arrangements from JJ. Aside from that, the overall
sound between them is vastly different (in my opinion).
It's driving me nuts trying to figure out which song it is similar to,
when I figure it out, I'll get back to you. Thanx again.

To all of you who heard about "Semisonic" being like BF5...well, the only song
that sounds like it on the Feeling Strangely Fine album is "NEVER YOU MIND."
The rest don't really sound anything like BF5, but it's still a really great
CD and it's a really good band. I definitely would recommend checking it out
at your local record store. But it's uncanny how much "NEVER YOU MIND" sounds
like BF5. See for yourself--you'd be surprised.

Bah, I wish I was cool enough to have Ben's birthday, but alas I was born on
Sept. 21. I can still take heart in the fact that 21 is just a 12 transposed.
Mildly Obsessed,
Jer
Well Jer, you are not the only transposee...my birthday's also on Sept.
21...so close! Makes you want to smack your mom doesn't it? Who cares if I'd
be premature? I could share a birthday with a legend! Instead the only
celebrity I share a birthday is Cecil Fielder :P

My birthday is September 23. That is 11 days after Ben's B-day. And 11 is one
number before 12, and 12 is his birthdate. So there. :)
