Hey there armchairers! I just got the most awesome cd with all the demos on
it (19, to be exaxt.) I was so thrilled to receive it I just had to tell
everyone! Anyway, what I really wanted to tell everyone is that on Stephen's
Last Night in Town, they actually have a clip of the real Stephen talking on
the phone!!!! It's just the melophone nad the trio, but I think it rocks that
you actually hear the Stephen that wouldn't go away. Incidentally, does
anyone happen to know why there's guitar in some of the demos? Yeah, Uncle
Walter and some of the others have actual guitar in them as well as bass.
Weird, huh? Oh well, whatever...
See you's all laterz,
Jon.

Tonight I was sitting in Taco Bell eating my order of Nachos Supreme
(this is bentent by the way) and I froze. I heard a familiar
noise.....could it be? yes it is! They played "Fair" over the little
intercom thingy. To you it may not seem interesting, but for Jonesboro,
AR hearing a BFF song is a very rare occasion. I was so happy! What if
some little hillbilly child heard BF5 and fell in love with the magical
harmonies, kick ass piano playing, and Robert's one note he played
during the whole song.

ok, so I was on this online CD store and I saw this -
<<Ashley Stove - Into The Sun Feat. Members Of Ben Folds Five>>
Anyone know anything about this? Which members, doing what? It might be
fairly old, so it^Òs probably been discussed over and over again, but
I^Òve only been on the chair for about half a year, so I probably missed
it and I^Òm just wondering.
Also - I^Òm trying to put together some biographies of the guys of my
page. Does anyone know
1- Robert^Òs middle name (it^Òs just that I^Òve got Ben^Òs and Darren^Òs on
their pages and it^Òs
bugging me that Robert^Òs page doesn^Òt have his on it)
2- any of their heights
3- any information that you think would fit into a profile kind of thing
would be good.
So e-mail me privately if you can answer any of that stuff.

hey gang.
well im in england for a year.. and ive been here for about 3 weeks and
GUESS WHAT ive already found a kick ass record shop.
i went into 'andys records' the other day to get some british music
(all of which i HIGHLY reccomend... gomez, pulp, the supernaturals, the
divine comedy, manic street preachers..etc) and what do they start to
play on the cd player but the first album! so i sing along and hum a
bit, my mood improving by ten fold. (or folds shall we say ha ha)
and the guy who worked there was really great too, it was great to make
a ben folds connection with a total stranger at a record store.
you see, BEN BRINGS PEOPLE TOGETHER.
'kinda makes you wanna cry, doesnt it.'
just thought id share a nice moment.
this is my story humble and true,
take it to pieces and mend it with glue.

Subject: Bette Midler
After agonizing over whether to purchase Ms. Midler's new cd..did I even
spell her last name right?..I finally bit the bullett and decided to plunk
down $14 for it. The curiosity of hearing "Boxing" got to me as well as
the man at the counter...hey, I wanted to make conversation with him which
I did...the Marilyn Manson/Bette Middler comparison, they look oddly
similar. Anyhooo....I get home, plunk the cd into the player and forward
it to track 8 only to be thoroughly disappointed. Gone was that feeling of
loss and sadness. Her version of boxing seemed strangely
cabaret-ish...like I felt like I should be in some French cafe listening
to it...is there like an accordian in the background? So, all in all, if
you don't really like Bette Middler (is her last name right now?) don't
buy the cd...of course, now my mother has a Christmas present unless some
fine citizen on this here armchair would like to buy a one-time-used cd
from me? :)
Sarah :)
PS. Does anyone know if that benefit album that Darren's on is like a
local thing or can it be found like up North? I looked all day yesterday
for it and found nothing.

I was wondering what other bands you guys/girls are into. I want to get
into some new music groups, but I don't know which ones to try out. I'm
looking for groups that are kind of unknown, or ones that I haven't heard on
those popular-music radio stations. I'm already into (besides BF5 of course)
DMB, Radiohead, Counting Crows, Green Day, Foo Fighters, Our Lady Peace,
Everclear, etc. I'm pretty much open to different types of music. So, if you
have any ideas, E-MAIL ME (Dreamer528@aol.com) (not the mailing list!!) and
tell me what groups you think are good, and what CDs are good. If you know
where to get sound clips from the internet on the band too, that helps.
Thanks for your help!! I appreciate it.

Hey all,
I just think it's funny how everyone *and their mother's cousin* owns a Ben
Folds Five shirt where I live. EVERY DAY somebody is wearing one, whether it
be the long sleeve navy or the ringer. It's a like a game....I'm always like
"ok, who's wearing the bff shirt of the day"? One time, a close friend that I
used to date appears with one of the *originial* short sleeved navy shirts
with the stick piano logo on. (They were on sale on the official bff page
about a year ago...remember?) He turns around, and I see something like "ben
folds five, japanese tour '96" in that BFF-esque writing and then a list of
all the dates. Pretty neat, huh? He says it got it from the internet
somewhere, but i'll be damned if he'll tell me....I think he paid $30 to
someone in Japan for it. Anyway, I want that shirt...so if any of you live in
Japan and want to give/trade/sell it to me, go ahead.
Geez, better prepare my e-mail account for a flood of responses, huh. :)
Well anyway, I have nothing else of interest to say...I just wanted to post.
And oh yeah, give thanks to the Armchair.....it has help me set up some cool
trades and meet some cool people.
Email me if you want to talk or trade or something...I'm in a good mood!
I wait with you all in joyful hope for the coming of the next BFF album and
tour.
"Episode 3" shall we call it. (It'll be the 3rd album they tour because they
didn't really tour NBP, you know?)
And folks, E3 will rock.
Love!
Emily

Hi kiddies
Thaks for all the responses(two, to be exact) giving me the info that a
(band? person?) called Basking in the Sun did a CD with rap/techno/hip hip
remixes of Brick. I have not found anyone anyplace that has ever heard of
this. Anyone to help in finding this or having this available will be
showered with riches and/or cool stuff in return. Start your engines!

Subject: TORONTONIANS! LEND ME YOUR EARS...
Hello fellow Torontonians,
As a true blue (yay...Madonna Quote!) BFFan, I have found that two of the musical favourites of BFF fans everywhere (or at least me and the people on the RF) are Elliott Smith and Belle and Sebastian. Well, as luck would have it, Toronto will soon be blessed with the presence of both of these great artists (Not to mention Robbie Fulks again, but this is hardly the point) in the near future. To be exact:
B+S: Sat, Oct. 24th at the Opera House (all ages)
Elliott Smith: Wed, Oct 7th at Lee's Palace (19+)
So, if there are any BFF/B+S/Elliott Smith fans who are interested in getting together at either of these concerts, please Email me so I can try to set everything up. I hope to hear from all Torontonians, even if you haven't heard of these groups.
Robbie C.
BTW, if you had to see Robbie Fulks for free or They Might Be Giants for $15, what would you do? Both shows are on the same night, so...?
