Sigh.

Well, I decided to have a look at my Ben Folds Five site -- The Strangest
Things -- after editing a few things, adding some new news and links. That was
a *Bad Decision* as I hadn't actually looked at my page online for quite some
time.

Well, I seem to have discovered that XOOM.com decided to shove it's Stupid
Little Frame Advertisement Thingie all over the place. So it seems that it
appears FOUR times on my site, effectively crowding out all the text on the
top frame. UGH! UGH, I say! YUCK! MOst disagreeable! Having this THING on the
top of the page practically ruins the point of having a mostly text site.

I am either going to move my page to somewhere better (please not Geocities or
Angelfire) or delete it permanently. Bah. Does any one have any suggestions as
to where to move it to? If it doesn't find a new home, I'm just going to get
rid of it because it's taken up so much time and there's probably no where
else that I'd be happy....Please, help! :(

Great. Now I can't EVEN GET TO MY SITE one out of every two times! Arg!

Hey Fivers.

I've been on this digest for a long time :) A long long time. Not as long as
some. But a long time. It's gradually gone downhill. Last night I got so
fed up with this digest that I almost hit the "send now" button on a removal
message.

But I'm giving this one more chance.

Ben Folds Five is my favorite band. I love them to death.

I really want everyone to take a minute and realize that the MA could be a
nice place again.
No fights.
No gossip.
Just fans talking with other fans intelligently about a band they all like.

Mail in concert reviews.
Things you saw on t.v.
Links to pictures.
STuff.
But don't fight.

Note to Clayton: no more chain letters. Thankyouverymuch.

I urge you to email me privately if you are angry with me. If you don't care
at ALL what I have to say, skip over it and don't mail the digest saying that
you don't care if I want to unsub.

I don't know how long Ben Folds Five is going to last. Let's make the end
great.

Thanks
Lucy

Just thought I would say I really like Army, it is just as good as I have
been expecting and I hope it gets some good radio play, it deserves it.

Hello there. I am new to the list, and as a good citizen I read the
mailing list rules first. I thought this list didn't allow spam, but there
does seem to be rather a lot of it.

Also, for this poor benighted being in deepest coldest England,
can someone tell me who or what jjj is?

Best

Edward

A few thoughts about the new album.

The opening track, "Narcolepsy," is perhaps the most intense BF5 track to date. From the outset, you can tell that Ben has really brought his piano playing into focus for this record. An incredible track.

"Don't Change Your Plans" is probably my favorite track (but there are plenty of other candidates!). In terms of hit potential, this is perhaps TUBORM's answer to "Brick." A beautiful song, with a nice Burt Bacharach-inspired horn interlude.

There's something about "Mess" that takes me out on the prairie. Another beautiful melody, with nifty drumming. There was a popular vocalist back in the fifties by the name of Frankie Laine, who easily could have covered this tune and done it justice.

"Army," "Your Redneck Past" and "Your Most Valuable Possession" are the fun songs. These are of the sort that Ben undoubtedly could write in his sleep.

"Lullabye" closes the album on a gorgeous and somewhat jazzy note. Very nice piano tickling by Ben on this one.

All in all, a great album. I can hardly wait to buy the CD!

Bill

I saw a flier this week for the bff shows at irving plaza in nyc, and it
had Fleming and John listed as the opening act. I don't know if this is
for the whole tour, or just nyc. If anyone has any other info, post it!
