Having good friends is just so nice. Today my friend Dave tipped me off to
a great find--our local indie record store had a copy of the "Truth & Rumors
with Ben Folds Five" CD for sale. Of course I ran over and picked it up
right away! It's a great disc with some really funny and informative bits
about the new album.
Since I'm just such a nice guy, I went and encoded the whole thing and
posted it on my web site. I didn't, however, post mp3's of the 5 album
tracks that are included on the disc. Sorry!
You can listen to it at:
http://members.tripod.com/ex13/bff/
You'll have the best luck with Internet Explorer 4 or 5 and Microsoft Media
Player. The clips are encoded at 32kbps/22,050kHz mono using MPEG Layer-3
compression. They all have the .WAV extension (Tripod won't let me upload
.mp3 files) and should play right from your browser with little trouble.
Let me know if you need help getting started!

hey chickens! (i'll try not to send this twice, sorry about that BTW)
come on guys! i need more support than i'm getting if we want this
thing to work!!
okay...quick story behind my motivation to do this...
i went to a whitlams (amazing aussie band) concert a week or
three ago and their mailing list (that i'm a member of) has a shirt,
and it was just the coolest thing to be able to go up to all of these
people you didn't really know and say hi!
anyhoo...i seem to remember a hell of a lot more interest in jan/feb
when the idea was being thrown around (*julia is very jealous*)
i promise you the shirts will be cool.
i seem to remember that frank (hi frank!) said that the band thought
the shirts were a cool idea and that there were over 1100 people on
the list. That's pretty cool.
*julia sends subliminal message to everyone on the list (including
the lurkers) telling them to email her*
looking forward to hearing from you all

does anyone else not really want Army to be huge? People are talking
about how successful it could be, and how much recognition they deserve
and all, and it's true; Army is a really good song which I could easily
see being huge. But let's not forget the mayhem Brick brought just over
a year ago... Let's not forget the complaints of sold out concerts,
etc. I wish BFF the best of luck, but it took them almost a month to
sell out Irving plaza, giving me and any other real fans of theirs
plenty of time to get tickets, and that's the way I'd like it to stay.

Subject: When will they play it in Pittsburgh?!
Hey all,
I've been desperately waiting for the moment when I'd catch some of bff's
stuff on the radio...everyone's gotten my hopes up with stories of hearing
Army and/or Narcolepsy. We've got no new ben!!! Is there anyone from around
pittsburgh on the list that could recommend a station that plays it or has
anyone heard it?? I visited my aunt a few days ago and she said that stations
there (columbus) have been playing it a lot! I'm jealous!!! Thanks guys...

Well, I can't tell you exactly how he does it, but I know how to get
a smiliar sound. If you run a piano through an amp, you can use a
Stereo-Chorus pedal to achieve a similar sound. Also, some electric
pianos have a 'Chorus mode' and a 'Symphonic mode' - both of which
produce similar sounds (the chorus moreso than the symphonic.) I've got
a Kurzweil Mark 10 that has these, and it's a lot of fun to play around
with. But like I said, I'm not sure exactly how Ben does it...
rock on,

~Thought about the Army,
Dad says 'Son you're f*ckin' high'
Then I thought 'Yeah there's a first for everything'
so I took my old man's advice~
