Okay, I got pumped doing some programming this afternoon, and the site is up!
You can visit the Archive at
http://www.mcdwebdesign.com/bff/
If more than one person gets to a show, multiple reviews are not a problem- I'd rather
let anyone who wants to particpate. If you know HTML, you can type it into the
reviews, so if you want to link to your bff homepage from your review, please do so!
Any suggestions? Let me know!
In BFFandom,
Patrick

While we're anxiously awaiting the new cd and there isn't much else to talk
about until then...I was listening to a new bootleg I got the other day.
Right before they launch into "Video Killed the Radio Star," Ben says,
"We just got done working on a compilation of one-hit wonders, and we've
never played this song live before, so let us know if you recognize it."
I have a collection bigger, if not as big of every BFF disc out there, and
I've never heard or seen this anywhere. I'd love to get a high quality studio
recording of "Video Killed," but this is sort of a rhetorical question:
Anyone seen this illusive disc?
Dan
P.S. I'm more than aware of Ben's track record of bullshitting during
concerts :)

Hey, i just got my videos back from CEC (remember when they asked for BFF
videos from fans?) and without a note...you know, no "thank you" and no
"this is what we're doing with the videos..." etc, but oh well.
Anyway, I now have an extra copy of one of my videos, and I am willing to
trade it. here's what's on it:
6/95 Cat's Cradle Show (70 min)
BOWCCL video
120 Mins. Interview & Uncle Walter video (April 1997 i think) (about 15 min)
BOWCCL live on Conan
"Angry Dwarf" video
Sessions @ w 54th Nov 8 1997 (30 min)
Brick video
This is about 3 hours worth of stuff. here's what I'm looking for:
"Army" single
Any single or promo i don't have
"Truths & Rumors" CD
any live show I don't have (at least 3 tapes)
Email me if you want it. it'll go to who gives the best offer. Sorry if you
want me to make another copy...unless i get a really great offer, i'm not
up to making any new copies at the moment.
Jess

Celine,
Here are a few things that you could mention to that horse friend of yours
next time she brings the Beatles up. (one of my favorite bands by the way,
so I'm not slamming on them). For starters, the Beatles had 4 members as
opposed to the 3 of bff. Also, Roberts style of playing bass is so new and
fresh that you can't even compare it to the bland bass lines of George.
Also, Darren is able to play many different styles, and well, while Ringo
just plain sucks. (Trust me on this one, 9, no 10, out of 10 drummers agree.
Including myself.) As far as Ben goes, well how many times have you heard
Paul or John say "fuck" or "shit" or any of those other cuss words that Ben
likes to use. Oh, and I don't think I've ever heard of a beatles concert
where they slammed a stool into the piano. There is much more that I could
think of, but it's late, and that should be enough to get you started anyway.

Subject: secret press show
There was something about the secret press show posted on the newsgroup -
apparently Ben said at the start of the show that it was the first time
they had played live for 6 months, and so it was a bit strange. During one
song Ben got the giggles, and had to stop playing. And when he played
Underground he forgot the chords and had to stop and play around on the
piano until he worked it out again. The report said that the audience took
it all very well, and the two radio DJs I have heard talking about it
didn't mention the problems and said it was a fantastic show. But the
report also said that the powers-that-be at Sony were not too impressed by
the whole thing.
Paul.

Hey, sorry this isn't directly bentent, but could help you save some
money on your way to the concert.
<< THE GREAT "GAS OUT"
> >
> >It's time we did something about the price of gasoline in America!
We are all sick and tired of high prices when there are literally
millions of gallons in storage. Know what I found out? If there was
just ONE day when no one purchased any gasoline, prices would drop
drastically. The so-called oil cartel has decided to slow production
by some 2 million barrels per day to drive up the price. I have
decided to see how many Americans we can get to NOT BUY ANY GASOLINE
on one particular day! Let's have a GAS OUT! Do not buy any
gasoline on APRIL 30, 1999,,!!!!! Buy on Thursday before, or Saturday
after. Do not buy any gasoline on FRIDAY, APRIL 30, 1999. Wanna
help? Send this message to everyone you know. Ask them to do the same.
All we need is a few million to participate in order to make a
difference. We CAN make a difference.
Ok that's it, please don't kill me for putting a non-bentent message
up. It's the only way I could think to spread it around quickly. If
you're wondering, I didn't start it, someone sent it to me.

Is it just me, or does TUBORM sound like a broadway score? Especially
"Don't Change Your Plans." I'm also hearing Billy Joel in the opening of
"Your Redneck Past." "Mess" is an amzing song. Its so touching that Ben
wrote that for his ex-wife. Overall the album is amazing. It's great to
hear the full band going "Magic," I loved the demo on "The Garden Place..."
album, and I had hoped that Ben and Robert would get a chance to play
along. I'm very pleased with the results.
While there aren't any "Unlce Walters" or "Angry Dwarfs" I think TUBORM is
a step forward for the band. I know that lots of people may not like this
album, but I also think it will expand their listening base to include
people that didn't like them b/c of songs like "Song For The Dumped." I
could care less if the band gets more fans. I hope they do. After all, if
they were writing songs and performing just for you, they wouldn't even
bother to write their own songs. As Reel Big Fish says on their kick-ass
album Why Do They Rock So Hard?, "We're so sorry that so many people got to
enjoy our music/By hearin' us on the radio..."
Check out the latest issue of "Spin" for a cool article on the band. A
quote from Robert: "(To Ben) Jewl will wanna make out with you after she
hears this album." At least that's how I remember it, I don't have my copy
with me at the moment.
I'm still looking for concert boots and the Underground and SFTD videos. If
anybody want to trade I've got a fair collection of concerts and demos and
TV stuff, along with Potty Mouth. (I'll copy it for you, my orignal copy is
staying with me forever) Ta-ta.
