this may interest some of you, if you don't already know... on Sonic
Youth's 1988 album, 'daydream nation' one of the tracks ('providence') was
an answering machine message (from mike watt to thurston) with them playing
music over the top of it. (also some other noises they made). sonic youth
may not've been the first people to do it, but 'your most valuable
possesion' reminded me of 'providence' heaps.
the funniest part is they realeased it as a single :)

Hey everyone. In the very begining of "Mess" it
reminds me a lot of "Kalamazoo" off of Shut up and
Listen to Majosha. Don't you agree? I think so.

Hey guys,
I absolutely love the new album..My friend said to me, "It's gonna suck cause
it's gonna be different" I told him he was a jackass and didn't know what he
was talking about...Well, guess who was right. Thanks =)

Yeah, yeah, "a true fan this" and "a true fan that."
Shut up.
Just like the music or don't like the music. Either is fine.
As I have said to a few who "questioned" my opinion of the new disc, even
great bands write mediocre songs sometimes and "sticking" with the band
doesn't mean BLINDLY adoring everything they do, it means liking the
band enough to try and understand WHAT they're doing and WHY they're
doing it.
AND, "sticking" with the band can also mean accepting the "blah" along
with the brilliance.
Finally, in response to this:
>>come on girls, aren't ben's dimples the cutest??
Ben who?
later,
michigan joe
p.s. Loved the "brick" connection to "plans." It finally all makes sense.
Brick WAS about a dance competition. I knew it.

I was going to post this last night, but I had to refrain because the use of
obscenities would have been excessive. From what I was able to hear (the
acoustics were horrible) the music was good. Short encore, just SFTD, and not
even drawn out. Of course....it was probably due to perhaps the lamest crowd
I have ever been witness too. Let's see.....I had some guy grinding on my
backside during Fleming and John, and yes, I did try pushing him away, but he
was determined to get in front of me, which was simply not happening. This
same guy decided to verbally harass me the entire night, at one point getting
in my face and yelling a bunch of things at me. Not one to back down, I got
right back in my face and he left me alone....only to return shortly after
and try, with all his drunkeness, to push me out of the way. So, with all
this going on, my enjoyment of BFF was slightly hindered. I did, however,
score a drumstick, courtesy of the roadie with the blond hair who's name I
always forget. It was like cracked and could have made a useful weapon,
perhaps that's why he gave me that one. I was so mad by the end of the
evening that I didn't even bother to wait around and see if I could talk to
the band. Same setlist as all previous shows I think. Never go to Williams
College, no matter who is playing there.
Sarah
PS. And let me say, security was notified about this guy and all they did was
give him a verbal warning, considering he was harassing not only me, but
everyone around him. Pretty shoddy job I must say.

That would be wicked funny, and it probably would sound pretty good, cus most
of the lines aren't held at the end, and god knows kermit never holds a note.

Sorry to the few misguided people, but that message is from Ben's Dad.
Just thought I'd clear things up. For proof, check out Toronto's NOW
Magazine, as ben talks about giving pops royalties for the lyrics...

Below is a review of the latest Fluid Ounces CD. For those who have not
gotten it yet, do it now! www.spongebath.net for only $10! If you love BF5,
you will love this band!
FL.OZ.-In the New Old Fashioned Way-And for those who want the "old" Ben
Folds Five sound....Here ya go!! About as archetypally Ben Fold-sy as it
can get. This band has all the kick-ass ivory pounding verve of the
sunniest of Folds vaudevillian pop with a bit more punch as there are
guitars sprinkled on the songs. A wonderful, uplifting little gem from
the South. Definitely on my recommended list!

I agree - "Don't Change Your Plans" does sound like Kermit should be
singing it. Not that it makes it any better/worse, it just sounds like
Kermie should be sitting on a suitcase singing to this one. ;) Also, does
Lullabye sound exactly like some other song? I have no idea what song I
am thinking of, but the chord progression sounds like I have definately
heard it somewhere before.

This goes out to all my friends in Australia:)
I would love to get a copy of TUBORM with the extra CD but I do not want to
pay like $40 bucks for it here. I was wondering if somebody could give me a
sort of estimate as to what the cost would be to me. I'd gladly pay the
CD cost, shipping, and a little tip for your time. I just figured this way
would probably be cheaper but I don't know.
So if you have the time and you know you can get a copy please write back:)
See ya
