Sorry to all you whose lives I have ruined by posting this, but I need help.
Could anyone who has attended, is planning to attend, or does attend New York
University, Brandeis, McGill or University of Toronto and is willing to tell me
about their experiences at that school PLEASE Email me privately? Any help would
be tremendously appreciated.
And for all those people who feel like sending me hate mail for posting this, be
forwarned that I will be more amused than hurt, so be my guest...

I was really surprised to find a review of TUBORM in my local newspaper's
entertainment section. It was refreshing to read......the guy gave the album
3 stars out of 4 but said he missed the humor found in the past albums. He
didn't like a few songs, but I don't think he saw this album as a true
expression of the band's musical talents. -erin

i dont know who is selling it, but in the same vein a few months back i saw
someone put up Thom Yorke's toenails. he says he dug through the trash after
seeing Thom clip the nails and throw them out.
in conclusion, ebay sucks.

I think he says "can't be tamed"
I have a question about the lyrics for MESS....
about 2 min. in, when he says, "and i dont believe in love, so i cant be
______" i am wondering what that word is. The lyrics have it as CHANGED, but
it doesnt sound like he's saying that. So if anyone knows the answer i would
appreciate it!

It sounds to me like Darren and Robert are saying one thing (maybe
"saved"?)...while Ben is saying something between "tamed" and "changed". I'm
really not sure, but I've listened to that part a few times and thought I
could be of assistance.

Subject: Hey, all!
Hi. My name's Don. I'm from Queens, NYC and I've been a fan of BFF's since
I heard Brick. So, yeah, I guess I'm a corporate bandwagon jumper-on. So
sue me. I assure you, though, I like all their stuff. I think they're one
of the last few talented groups out there nowadays. I went out and bought
all of their albums and I've now seen them twice. The first being at a radio
festival here in NY and the second being at Irving Plaza on the TUBORM tour.
I gotta say that I'm a piano player myself and I definitely find myself
inspired by Ben to write. I haven't been able to get down anything even
CLOSE to his stuff, but I'm trying. In fact, I'm in the midst of writing
music for my first full-length musical. A couple of people at my school (St
John's University) are trying to put up a musical at the end of next year.
BFF is definitely going to be a musical source for me. They just totally
rock.
My favorite song of late has been "Mess". I love it. The tune is absolutely
wonderful and the lyrics are incredible. "Mess" and "Underground" are
probably my two favorite songs. I also am partial to "Steven's Last Night In
Town" and "Boxing". But, there aren't too many of BFF's songs that I don't
like anyway. The only ones, so far, that I haven't been able to get into
have been all the songs on TUBORM after "Your Redneck Past". I just can't
dig them. The first half of the album is awesome. Just don't dig the second
half. But, I love the first album and I love WAEA. I don't yet have the
Godzilla Sndtrk. Can anyone tell me how "Air" is? I'm getting it in
exchange for Veruca Salt's "Eight Arms To Hold You" 'cause I don't even
listen to that. I just dig "Volcano Girls".
At any rate, I just wanted to say hi. If there's anyone on this list in
Cleveland or Detroit, gimme an email. I'm going there in July and I'm
interested in places to buy bootlegs and stuff like that. Or even cool
places to go.
Thanks.
Don

You were at the PSU show? I was too... I got to work security in between the
barricades and the stage, so I had great seats (leaning against the speakers
was wild, with the pounding bass!) Were you near the front? I might have seen
you. Cool to find out other people in my area are on the Armchair.

Wow, Ben Folds is the only songwriter I have ever heard of that could write a
one worded song that changed so many lives. :I
<<have you guys listened carefully to what ben's dad is saying on "your most
valuable possesion?" its awesome.
he talks about losing your muscles mass in space, musing that eventually you
would just be a "head or a mind." I listened hard to what Dean had to say,
and it blew me away, so listen up kiddies, its sweet.>>
i bet if that song was to last for another 2 minutes ben's dad would have
been talking about sunscreen.
<<Yesterday I was over at my friends apartment, and he had some Maxim (?)
magazines which he was making myself and the other female there read to
see if the articles were true. The magazine was kinda like a Cosmo for
guys in my opinion. Anyway, while flipping through the May 1999 issue, my
friend found an interview with Ben Folds! Since she knows how much I love
BFF, she gave it to me.>>
Yeah he talked about paper airplanes and made the interviewer look like a
real dumbass, Matt Pinfield, Eat your heart out!!!
Goodnight,

Subject: Carrying Cathy and Breakup at Food Court
Hey Everyone,
I was just reading about the boys in Details and I was wondering if anyone
might possibly have copies of the two tracks that never made it onto TUBORM
- - "Breakup at Food Court" and "Carrying Cathy."
Apparently, "Carrying Cathy," was the "suicide song Folds left off the
record, afraid it might 'summon' a genuine tragedy in his life." He
mentioned later in the article that he's sure the song could have been a big
hit, but that the timing just wasn't right for it. All in all, it's an
interesting article and brings up a lot of interesting details, particularly
about Ben, that I was unaware of.
Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone had these 2 tracks. If you do, I
would REALLY appreciate if you got in touch with me so that maybe we could
arrange something or other. Thanks very much, Eric

Someone posted a message about their Dad who read the
biography of Reinhold Messner. I just finished
reading "Into Thin Air" this week and it mentions
Messner a couple times throughout the book. He was
really quite a famous climber. He was the first
climber to ever reach the peak of Mt. Everest without
the use of supplementary oxygen in (I believe) 1980.
Many mountain-climbing purists consider this to be the
first legitimate climb to the top of the world's
tallest peak.
Well that's my history lesson for the day. The book
is excellent by the way. It's about the disaster at
Everest in 1996 where 5 people died. Pretty
frightening stuff!
