Hi all,
I just want to say that I'm sure that a lot of people are going to post
about Charlotte, so I just want to say that I thought it was a great show.
Blockbuster was really nice and let all the lawn ticket holders move down
into seats. I just hope that the concert searved it's purpose. I can't wait
to hear how the Atlanta show went.
As I was sitting in my US history class ( which was pointless to even be
there b/c our exam was over have a month ago!! argg to the greenville county
school system ) and as several of the star wars fanatics- including my
teacher- were playing star wars trivial persuit i thought that it would be
extremly cool to have a Ben Folds Five trivial persuit came. We could have
game pieces of each of the band members, and worthwhile questions like, "
What color is the girl's hair in spare reels who is singing "Brick" and
playing her guitar?" Now up against " How many nostrials does ( some creature
who's name I couldn't possibly remember) have?" that's some worthwhile info!
: )
For those of you who were at the charlotte show or happen to know what this
is, what was that thing that Robert kept putting his hand over to make those
weird sounds?? It was some small dome shaped thing.
I think that's all i have to say, it' s been a long day.....
Have a lovely day,
Becca

Hi,
I remember one more think i wanted to say that i thought about at the
charlotte show. This is my third time seeing the guys, but it seems to me
that robert keeps getting more and more energy. When i played soccer we had
to do this thing were we had to jump side to side over a soccer ball for 45
seconds straight... it's rough- trust me- but anyway robert would do a damn
good job at it. And as i was watching him jump around I couldn't help but
thinking he could make one fun exercise video. Just think of Robert as some
sort of new aerobics teacher... personally i think it's quite funny. just a
thought...
take care,
Becca

hi y'all. I'm new on this list after lurking down here in the shadows. I'm
mike, I'm from Chapel Hill, a student at Carolina, alcoholic, etc...
anyway, I finally got to see ben folds live for the first time at the ritz
last week. DAMN. what a show, I think that's all I need to say. I only
wish I brought my camera...I did see some guy with some SLR with a
telephoto lense that looked like it could penetrate soviet airspace a few
feet from the stage.
my main reason for writing today, is I'm wondering if anyone recorded that
show. I haven't seen to many taper posts on the chair, but I did *happen*
to bring my minidisc player and a shotgun mic out there..I was on the
stage right balcony, about 10 feet from that right stage speaker array.
my copy is damn nice by my standards, but keep in mind that I'm still a
novice taper and I messed with the sound levels a little in the middle of
songs.... crowd noise is nice and low, but there (as it ought to be). i
didn't notice any other mics, but I was only looking for shotguns rigs...
someone could have been stealthing right next to me and I wouldn't have
noticed. just wondering.
my setup:
ATR55->MDS-702 (10 feet from right stage speaker, angling down from the
balcony with an unobstructed view)
I trade concerts of other bands, and if someone had a nicer setup out
there, I'll keep my copy and let a better sounding one circulate. on the
other hand, in light that I'm pretty damned proud of my little endeavor,
the first 5 people to email me back can get an analog copy (2 Maxwell
XLII, standard b+p rules and procedures).
I'll let y'all know when I do the digital conversion to mp3 (gotta play
with my Xitel Storm Platnium) and CD whenever I get some time (juggling
class, work,, etc.)
also, I'd be partial to anyone with pictures, or who could email me me
pics, from the show.
thanks,

I see there's a Dawson's Creek album out, does anyone know
if BF5 are on it? I hope they are, because getting heaps of people
to hear Evaporated would be really really good publicity imho...
know what I mean,? Like, if Brick was on the album it could be
bad publicity I think because that song has become cliched and
boring in the minds of so many people (may certain commercial
radio stations roast in hell for that). Anyway.

I just want to know if I'm loosing my time hoping they'll stop in
Montreal...??!?! PLEASE!!!!!! It's not to bitch (but it is sincere
disappointment)... I just want to know if it is possible or if they'll
really just do a US tour (as it is written)...

hi, when i was at the URI show on april 25 i met a mr. dan keezer (whose
email address is dkeezer@keez.tiac.net), who seemed quite nice at the time.
we made arrangements by email to trade a copy of the show he had recorded for
some pictures i took. i sent him the pictures around the end of april. it
is may 30 and i have neither heard from nor received anything from him. if
you're out there dan, i'd really appreciate some indication you're alive.
his p.o. box, the address he gave out, is:
dan keezer
P.O. Box 582

and by the way, if anyone has a copy of the april 25 URI show and would like
to trade for it, please email me personally. and if i may shamelessly plug
my web page: if anyone wants pictures from that show and/or some bff sheet
music or bass tabs, my web page at http://www.angelfire.com/ny/poJ/bff.html
has that.

hey armchair people...
WOW!!! what a weekend. i guess i should start with the raleigh show. it
was my sixth bff show, and it was by far the best one. the guys played the
longest i have seen them play at nearly a two hour time. they just kept
playing and playing and playing. i met up with ginger nance and sandi
"shortcake" before the show, and i got to watch the soundcheck. then we all
just sat around for awhile, waiting for jude, who was pretty good. then the
guys came on... and the energy was just outstanding. they were VERY into
it. at the end, ben just kept going on and on with this metal type thing,
talking about how bad it is to be white.
the next night, i drove down to charlotte for the koncert for kosovo, which
wasn't so impressive. the guys had some energy, but you could tell that
they weren't really into it. sandi, ginger, my girlfriend, and i all tried
to get up front, but security wouldn't let us. soooo, since we all had VIP
passes, we decided to go backstage, and just watch the show from the side of
the stage, which was very cool. also, that night was the first night the
guys had played "brick" on this tour. it was the first song on the encore.
i have never seen so many lighters in the air in my life.
can't wait for d.c., worcester, and providence!!!
setlists are at the bottom. OH--- if anyone has any bff wallpaper for
windows, let me know privately. i'm getting tired of this boring shit on my
computer.

Subject: Some questions about shows...
Hey, my name's Brent Ritchey, from Mundelein, Illinois. I'm new here at the
Magical Armchair. I hesitated for awhile because I once subscribed to list
and it came as all these seperate emails, sometimes 100+ a day! But I like
how this is a digest!
I'm going to the show in Chicago and I had some questions to prepare me!
1.) What kind of merchandise do they offer? I'm bringing a wad of cash
because I tend to be a stuff-a-holic when it comes to BF5!
2.) Speaking of merchandise, I have a feeling the booth is packed after the
show. If I buy stuff beforehand does anyone know if they will hold it until
the concert is over?
3.) (MOST IMPORTANT!) What are the chances of meeting them after the show?
Where should I camp out and when? I don't want to bombard them, just say hi
and I have a rare Burt Bacharach songbook I wanted to give to Ben.
Also, a little plug for myself, I have a website with the entire TUBORM
chorded. It's very thorough. I also have some interviews transcribed
including T&R. The address is: http://www.angelfire.com/il2/benfoldsfive
Stop by! Thanks a lot, again!

in case you missed the show, check out the realaudio clips at this site:

i'm listening to the one with 'lullabye' right now (my tape cut off right
before that song, my favorite... grrrrrr) and it's been going on for
about 10 minutes already, so apparently they clipped a large portion of
the show for the site, maybe even the whole thing. it's pretty cool.
does anybody know if there's a simple way to capture these files so i can
KEEP them? i haven't been able to do that yet with certain realaudios
(some will save and some won't and i don't know why!), and i know that's
silly but i never cared that much before. :) please email me if you know.

Subject: new IRC channel for BFF fans
Hi everybody,
I have been working with some people on a small IRC network called
netlink-irc lately and I started a Ben Folds Five channel there. I am
currently really busy with stuff but I figured I would announce all the
info here now just in case some of you are itching for a new place to
discuss BFF with other fans.
First off, mIRC (the most popular IRC client for windows) can be obtained
from:
http://www.mirc.com/
Then you will want to add a server or two to the server list because
unfortunately netlink-irc is not listed right now. You would go to the
file menu. Select options... and under Connect you would click the Add
button.
You fill in any description like "netlink server" and then where it says
IRC server you can put in either of these two servers(if you want you can
add both under different headings):
darkstar.klis.com
or
pqlear.phix.com
Once you connect you can join #BFF. I am Jish and I will try to be around
to intro people to the channel and just talk in general but as I said I am
really busy lately. Have fun and spread the word :)
