In January 2011, Ben conducted and recorded audiences at seven shows singing bits and pieces of Working Day with the intention of stitching them together into a complete song performed by the fans themselves. Now, the editing is complete and the piece is finished, and you can see the results here.
The clip features fans from shows at St. Louis and Fulton, Mo.; Champaign, Ill.; Athens, Ohio; Milwaukee and Madison, Wisc.; and Minneapolis, Minn., and includes cameos from Nashville a cappella group Street Corner Symphony as well as Ben and Fleur’s kids. It’s a bit rough around the edges; it’s not all crowd singing, as there are bits where the band also comes in. As a first effort, though, it’s good, and shows Ben’s creativity at work.
