Jimmy Fallon show appearance

Ben and Nick are slated to appear on the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon show on NBC-TV (United States) Thursday, October 14. Pee Wee Herman is also a scheduled guest. Update: Here’s the clip of Saskia Hamilton from the show.

Ben on Nashville morning TV

Ben’s appearing today (October 7) on WTVF-TV Nashville Channel 5’s morning show, Talk of the Town.  In between the recipe for wild rice with sausage dressing and Ms. Cheap’s moneysaving tips, Ben will discuss the upcoming benefit concert with the Nashville Symphony.  Nashvillevanians can catch replays of the show on cable channel 250 Thursday at noon, 4pm and 9am Friday. Update: A clip from the interview is now up on the show’s website.

Talk with $#*! creator

Justin Halpern, the creator of the Twitter phenom known as $#*! My Dad Says, will be chatting live with fans following Thursday’s episode of the new CBS-TV series based on the Twitter feed.  Potential chatters should register here.

This has relevance, of course, because Ben’s new track Your Dogs is the theme song for the show and Ben’s piano licks provide the interstitial music in and out of segments. And,  William Shatner, who has collaborated with Ben musically, plays the “My Dad” character.

Levi Johnston’s Blues

So far, the track on the upcoming Lonely Avenue that’s pulling the most interest is Levi Johnston’s Blues, a profanity-laced look at the brouhaha surrounding the circumstances of Johnston’s illegitimate child with the daughter of the one-time Republican presidential running-mate from Alaska. It’s been covered in The Huffington Post (with clip and lyrics), jambands.com, Mediaite, and other media, and could be on the verge of catapulting Folds once again into the spotlight for a song about a controversial subject – something he’s not afraid of taking on. Giving credit where credit is due, however, Ben says “the brilliant chorus lyrics are a direct quote from Levi’s old MySpace page!”

“The Sing-Off” renewed

The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed is reporting that, as anticipated, NBC Television is renewing the a cappella competition show The Sing-Off for a second season. The first season starred Ben Folds as one of the panel of three judges who critiqued and ranked eight a cappella groups from around the country. No confirmation yet as to whether Ben will judge the second season but he was open to it as long as his schedule permits and the details could be worked out.
